  • Is she trying to seduce me?

  • So the forum prayers for Chicken worked and ultrasound showed that the lumps on her pancreas were not cancers and having had a good look at Rainbow Bridge she’s wandered off to choose life instead.

  • having had a good look at Rainbow Bridge she’s wandered off to choose life instead.

Classic aloof cat behaviour. I could be ill but i don't feel like it right now.

Glad to hear the good news!

  • So our cat is settling slowly after his move to Spain, but he definitely seems lethargic and is frequently spooked by the different noises (we are in an apartment building now).

Anyone got any ideas for helping him settle? We've got all the bedding and comforts, (including the stinky sheepskin rug he won't let us get rid of) and a few toys, but just finding it hard to get him to engage.

Am I worrying too much given it has only been 4 days?

  • Am I worrying too much given it has only been 4 days?

    Definitely.
Cat's are massive creatures of habit; it takes them weeks to adjust to a new environment.

Both our cats took a solid month in our new place to behave completely normally again but now they're just as they were; complete cunts. :)

  • Why the big paws?

  • Back with all feet on the rainbow bridge now. Mrs just rang from the vets, they will be doing a home visit at lunch time. Going to be very grim after seventeen years.

  • Ah man. That’s shit.

Seventeen years is pretty fucking fantastic though. Some amazing times.

  • What a beaut! As someone who is going to be picking up two fluffy Siberian bois in August I'm looking for some inside tips on fur maintenance. Have you got any recommendations for fluff removers? I was thinking about just using a lint roll on dark clothes when needed, but I'm thinking it might be better to buy something less disposable as I imagine it will be a constant battle :)

  • Muji does XXL size lint roller, I have been using them forever. I think they are meant for carpets and floors which I also use to clear the fur.

Not the greenest solution but I have tried different methods and that is by far the best.

I also bought a few washable roller things from HK last year, they are alright, but the Muji roller is THE BEST!

There is a Japanese reusable comb thing that was invented for getting rid of cat fur on clothes, I’ll make a note when it pops up on my FB feed again next time and let you know.

  • Thanks, I'll check out the Muji roller

  • To be honest I’ve more or less given up with trying to de-floof my place. Everything we have is covered in long car hair - sofas, rugs, bedding, all of our clothes. I do use the ikea lint rollers, we buy them in bulk.

The only way to keep it manageable is to groom her every, and I mean every, day. I use a comb and a brush. She’s an outdoor cat so she also gets all manner of garden detritus in her fur, including slugs, which all has to be removed. She has long slightly frizzy fur, he mane and hind quarters fur is at least 3” long. I know not all Coonies have the same issue; my ex’s three coons never really moulted much. Luckily Dizzy adores being groomed, even her tummy and hindquarters, and will come running if you wave the brush or comb.

    Good luck!

  • Ha I was right, it is for cleaning carpets.

I think I go through about 3 packs so 9 rolls a year. And I tend to roll the rugs in my bedroom, living room, sometimes sofa every night and obviously my clothes when I need to be presentable or sometimes before jumping into bed. Asthma means I don’t get on with fur as well as I used to so need to be more on it. Using a vacuum cleaner is just too much faff. Rolling the roller across my 1 bedroom flat only takes a couple of mins.

I... erm... sometimes roll the cat too... 😳

  • I don’t know if I’m ready for all of this! Should have got a Sphinx instead 😂

  • Am I right in thinking Siberians don't actually shed much?

  • Yes to be fair they are very different to Maine Coons and other fluffers, the breeder I'm getting mine from has two mothers and a whole load of kittens and the house wasn't particularly fluff-heavy. I think the key is, as others have mentioned, consistent grooming. I also read that they are sensitive to heat, so it's recommended in warmer months to have their fur trimmed to help them stay cool

  • Sphinx look for summer then.

  • Double cat pouffe action this morning. Very rare for these two to be next to each other. Radiator was on for clothes drying though so they called a truce!
