  • Are you going to run a cable from RD all the way to the Junc A? Otherwise Junc B or something needed.

downside to buying older 11s stuff

Might need firmware update, battery life might be reduced, might be missing features but these issue for a TT bike unlikely to matter.

  • Nah nothing practically useful for TT purposes unless you need to know in real time what ratio you are pushing or if your battery is about to conk out during a 12 hour event.

  • Annoying ain't it? If everyone stopped paying > £30 for them on ebay I'd crack one open and find out what's special about them.

  • In which case, is anyone selling any of the items I need? Can be a shit condition as long as they work.
I was planning on putting a seat tube battery in the extension if it will fit.

  • I'm new to Shimano, I've only had 105 10 & 11 speed groups briefly. But yes its annoying.

Right well I should probably look for the rest of what I need.

I have ultegra shifters and RD, seatpost battery. Need everything else.
Does the bar end box replace the under the stem doodah?

  • Does the bar end box replace the under the stem doodah?

Yeah, that's an alternative charging port/status indicator boxythingie. I was going to get one for looks but prefer the stem box for function.

  • Wrap capacity question.
Is the wrap of chainrings 46/34 , cassette 11-36.
    (46-34)+(36-11)= 37

  • Bugger wifli has a wrap capacity of 36

  • wifli has a wrap capacity of 36

Cut the chain to allow you to use 46/36, so even in a panic you don't rip the dérailleur hanger off. If you accidentally engage 34/11, no great harm will be done.

  • So I should be ok?
Would a better idea be just to get a 36 inner?

  • So I should be ok?

    Yes.

  • An additional comforting thought I’ve just had.
Wifli is for 32t. Given the obvious pairing is 50/34 the wrap capacity of that would be 37.

  • I was just looking at the new fields now I have power and I saw the gear change field.
    I made 627 changes over 90km.
Seems pretty high but I have no point of reference
And here is the elevation profile,

  • I think it counts each cog as one shift, so if you drop down a half at the rear, that counts as 5 changes.

I feel I shift more with Di2 which I think is a good thing. More often in the correct gear, I find I do more front shifts in particular.

  • Yeah I think I might have been shifting a little more, also new wide cassette probably factors in.

Anyone know how to change the gear set up on the gearing fields on a wahoo?

  • Does anyone know if I can run a 1x setup with:

    R1960 bar ends
    1 X R600 climbing shifter
    3 port

Everything I've read says you can't use spring shifters without a 'brain' but can't see why the above wouldn't work (plus the usual connections to the junction box and battery)

  • r600 pave shifter is a proper etube device, whereas the sprint shifters are just peripherals for the brifter not having their own transciever.

  • So therefore the above should work with a 3 port?

  • I'm running an r600 into a 5port to a 6870 mech. No other shifters.

  • It would, but you'll need another junction box otherwise you won't have a port for the cable running to the rest of the system. A 5 port might be a neater solution, otherwise you'll need an extra junction B box to connect the shifters.

  • Ah yeah good point! I guess a Y connector between one bar end and the climbing shifter would do that job as well, means a lot of internal wiring planning though. Cheers both.

  • My plan is to get a climbing shifter over here in the US where they are slightly cheaper and start taking it apart to see how it can be paired with magura brakes. There are a few tutorials out there but all seem to still end up with pretty agricultural results.

  • Been there, done that. My P5 has Magura hydro brakes, a 1x setup, and twin base bar and extension shifters all driven off a very hacked R600 shifter. Let me know if you want more details...
