@el_presidente I agree. I rang then as you suggested, apparently no other advisories (advisories on the old one I mentioned were done by the previous owner) and the welding was done to the outside. Will send a picture of the welding when I pick it up tomorrow.
So no need to change the seals and it shouldn't happen again hopefully

For £1030 still sounds like a decent deal to me
Maybe a problem with a door seal or similar that let water in to the seatbelt area? No other mention of rust implies it's a limited problem. See if you can have a chat with the tester and get his opinion?
