Thanks. The problem for me with reddit is that every time I get sucked in to r/WatchesCircleJerk and lose two hours

Got a bargain lightly preloved black bay blue on leather deployant coming in next tuesday if anybody is looking for one.
Think it was purchased in Jan , had to go back under warranty, the client shit the bed and exchanged for something else.
Pics to follow but you all know what one looks like. -

Thanks, never heard of that being a thing. I wonder if I can get the seller to point a geiger counter at it...

@Stonehedge this has reminded me I really need to get this 1972 Seiko serviced (huge sentimental value also, doubt it's ever been serviced). Winner if I can get it done for not too much ££

(The Seiko is very nice too)

@Stonehedge cheers. I only ever wear it for a day at a time so I haven't really noticed if it loses a few minutes but it always seems fine. I'll wear it for a few days and see :)

@Regal it's a 1970s ref 6430 and it's tiny at 30.5mm. Would have been a big stretch for my grandparents when they got it for my dad's 21st. I have the box and papers.
Interestingly the Seiko was free from some kind of magazine or cigarette loyalty scheme and belonged to my great grandad.

You need to test any quartz watch on a quartz testing machine like one made by Witschi. You can't just make assumptions that a certain component is bad without making some measurements first. It's a five minute job for a competent watchmaker with the correct equipment to make a simple diagnosis.

Off canoeing and camping in Wales for three days. Torrential rain forecast. This somehow seemed appropriate for the trip.

Good start to Friday
It really is fantastic. Have you considered selling it on Reddit?
