Also worth looking at some of the Sony ones, something like an Alpha 6000 (not sure what the current model is). Good cameras with a big APS-C sensor and a good amount of decent lenses.

You can still buy the A6000 new, nothing wrong with this camera at all and quite compact with a pancake, smaller 35mm or manual lens if you swing that way.
