e-bullitt owners/sellers, is there a walk assist option on the newer models? I'm thinking of splurging but have a narrow winding mildly-uphill path to my house and wondering if it's going to be a mare the first/last 25 meters of every trip.
Also, those of you who insure their cargo bikes, did you add under your existing house insurance or get specific bike insurance? Thanks :)

My e-6100 e-bullitt has walk assist and is covered under my laka bike insurance.

Well done!

Thanks. And thanks for the info regarding the wheel being dished to clear balloon tyres.
I need a new fat inner tube, so it’s currently running a narrower bmx tyre, but the ride feels pretty okay.

Right then, who has a bullitt not a million miles away from Somerset?

I'd be interested in knowing how much your insurance is.
When I tried to get my Douze e-Cargo bike which was around £4,500 new, all insurance companies hit me with a £450 annual premium + £250 compulsory excess.
It is a mental amount as it is more than my car, motorbike and house insurance put together (all in Zone 2 London).
Fingers crossed, three years on, I still have my bike and I have saved £1,350 on insurance...

You should have ‘self insured’ and put at least half the money aside in a saver account, and if you had to spend on a new one the balance would probably be the same as your excess.

Laka suggest between 18 and 38 per month for a £4,500 bike, cover includes ebikes
Let me know if you want a referral code. Saves about £25 I think

Thank you for the screenshot.
For the business use I'd imagine it'd be closer to £38 than £18.
£38 x 12 = £456 which is the number I was quoted. They want to promote cycling, reduce congestion, improve air quality then they charge you more than a car for insurance.
Makes no sense but makes them money!
I will keep taking the risk and have no insurance against theft (I already have personal insurance via British Cycling and goods in transit with my business insurance).

With Laka the amount you pay month to month varies depending on the claims of the group members with a cap at the 38. i.e. the avg you would pay is 18.
Here is what they say for business use.
"Yes– we love people who use their bikes for work, including our cargo bikers and couriers!
But we can’t cover you whilst you're working the USA or Canada and any other countries operating under US / CAN jurisdiction or law." -

I see! Makes more sense now!
I will look into it in more details.

Yes all the newer ones have walk assist. Goes 5kph and if you shift into 1st gear before going into that mode it has enough torque to climb anything. Have twice got mine out of super steep boggy moorland whilst moderately loaded.
Even if you can't find an eBullitt to try out find a local mtb shop that has shimano steps so you can try the system out. -

we've got a Bullitt and an eBullitt at Velo Domestique in Bournemouth if you're looking to test ride?
-
• #2724
Thats that plan.. We are both in love, but the mrs needs to test ride to be happy so would/could ride it etc!

No problem, I know Bournemouth isn't around the corner but here's our place
We've got some tasty food and coffee as well so even if the mrs isn't a fan it won't be a wasted trip (although she will be a fan, especially the eBullitt)
Regular Bullitt is set up with seats and side panels if you're looking to transport a person (or dog) and we've always got both models in. Plus if it's relevant we're happy to help with the eBullitt Grant application offered by the Energy Saving Trust.
We're open every day except Tuesday
Plus we have an omnium mini max you're welcome to test ride if you're weighing up options
Well the cargo’s sidecar mounts using quill stems. It seemed pretty safe to use a couple as footpegs, as there was a known value (tube diameter and such).
I have saved two bmx pegs but need to decide how they will mount, if I go down that route. I may look to make the lower supports that run the length of the cargo area like the ‘proper’ accessory. Pretty dear to buy though.
My passenger also wanted some kinda handlebars so I may need to fit a stem and bars for that stoker effect.
