Come on, Howdens at least. I have a tame account you can run your quotes through.

I hear Plykea is a bit over priced... I had my doors wrapped by a carpenter, can't remember how much it cost but was decent enough.
Ikea + custom doors = win. -

this is why the people hate the people in this thread.

I'm fine with it.

I think the best thing for stopping draughts from under the floor is to lay a vapour permeable membrane beneath the boards but you need to make sure there is adequate ventilation both in the sub floor and also in the living space above or you're going to have condensation problems somewhere. Also be aware of humidity sources beneath the floor - il bare earth presumably worse than concrete in this regard

My friends run Plykea, they now do fronts for both Howdens and for ikea frames.

👋🏻 Btw Chris, still in a mini fucking nightmare with Resi and extension. About to break ground as they say next week to build something..after almost an entire year of on and offs. Hope yours is going well?

OH HAI.
Replied in PM so as not to fan the fires.

We went to Howdens for our kitchen, pimped with a worktop from somewhere else - it looks really good and I'm happy with it.
I think each branch has different interpretations of their 'builder sales only' policy. They needed our builder's name at some point in the process for their computer, but then we went in, designed, paid for, dealt with and did aftersales with them from then on in. PM if you want the details of that branch.
One thing with them. They were shocking at delivering stuff - it all arrived in dribs and drabs, a couple of big deliveries and lots of little ones and our builders were blocked waiting on stuff more than once. It seemed to be a source of discontent with the Howdens guys in branch too, and phoning round all the other depots looking for another two doors and one carcass (for example) was something they were obviously used to doing.
I'm not sure whether it would put me off dealing with them, but they didn't make it easy to buy stuff from them.

Has anyone had shelving from Tylko before? Need to get some shelving to cater for a few books - want something different (not Ikea) but not wall mounted.
Their stuff looks nice enough. Keen to hear from anyone who has it.

How fucking much??
-
• #27891
Yeah for that you can just go custom no?
-
• #27892
they pop up in my facebook/instagram feed every so often, and as much as I like the look, always baulk at the price, once you start building it up..

@chrisbmx116 custom from where? I would have through getting a quality joiner to build a shelving unit from ply with whatever coating + doors and fixtures would be £1k+ - which is around the price tag our combination would work out as?
@Soul it is pricey for some combinations - I just can't find anything that seems different. Where can I get some bookshelves from that is not Ikea and hopefully not shit?

I use this guy - jongrant.london
He is super nice and decent enough price.
Shelving wise - Untothislast or String no? -

Fuck my arse.
You could buy the wood, heck you could buy the fucking power tools AND hire a freelance chippy for a couple of days and have change left over for what a couple of these things would cost..

@ThePeginator - did lol.
You're absolutely right you could do this cheaper. I guess I have to factor in my time of organising someone to do all of this whilst juggling everything else (other renovations, small child, work etc etc) - the convenience of these things is most appealing which is why I guess people pay through the arse.
@chrisbmx116 I'll give Jon Grant a call and see what his thoughts are. His work is real nice. I'm in Scotland so shipping is a ball breaker for most things. (Just paid £150 for worktops to be shipped from Essex!!)
Thanks all. I'll report back on the final solution.

And I thought our ‘Swoon’ stuff was expensive... (but happy wife happy life).. we got a big set of drawers, dressing table and two bedside tables - all solid wood, dovetail joints etc. - for under £900 delivered.

Classic contractor antics.
I still have a cupboard full of Flos lights I bought on a whim.
You monster.
Good to hear through... I'm stressing Pivot door + glass window box vs. minimal frame sliding doors.
Ikea kitchen is more than fine though, I'll be using the carcasses for sure.
