There is a bracket that @coldharbour makes to mount a light on the mudguard.

thanks!
also want to know if people found it bounced/ vibrated etc ..

Find the people with nice Talbots that have mudguards on!

I have this exact setup on my Isen.
I use PDW guards and the setup is great. A little vibration but not noticable in the beam.
@coldharbour does not recommend use of the bracket in this location with heavier lights such as supernova E3 or sinewave beacon

Is there a current go-to relatively inexpensive light dynamo hub?

Thanks

Hunt superdura the way to go if i want value for my money? Might be cheaper to source everything and pay a builder but I don't think I have enough knowledge for this.. Any other over the counter wheelsets?

Have now gone for plastic guards so crown mounting!

Anyone used the SON rear light on seat tube instead of seat post? Any issues to be expected? Worrying that seat post positioning would limit the use of saddle bags. Appreciate the shorter wiring compared to the mudguard version, which is another alternative.
Tight clearances might prevent me wiring inside the guards which would result in ugly cabling, i guess.
Edit: Got the mudguard mounted SON taillight, and it seems to suit my needs more than enough. Wiring got sorted out using the rounded edges of GB 50mm fenders as a perfect, tight channel for SON coaxial cable. Just don´t know how well it hold the cable in the long run but it was tight to install.

I tried to mount one to a seat tube to shine under a rack. The light fit fine, but it wasn’t as visable as I would have liked.

One customer I recently spoke to had a larger seat post diameter and therefore his frame was too large for the band - worthwhile checking if your post is larger than 30mm or so!

V late on this, but there's a thread for the hubs:

This is great, nicely done!

• #2169
That looks great. Someone buy one so they can tell me how good it is.

I've got one, though still haven't got round to fitting. @thanksbye has fitted his, and I believe it doesn't have a capacitor which is a bit shitty
-
• #2171
Mine died after about a week, as jack's saying the capacitor went so it would only light up when riding.

Even without a standlight it's not a terrible deal for a light so powerful.
Quite why I want one I've no idea. Already got three front lights (on different bikes). Must dynamo all the bikes!

Yeah. This.
@hugo7 If it’s still relevant... there are OEM shimano dynamo hubs with ultegra internals for peanuts. They differ from the regular product shimano sell in that they have simple hub flanges (so a little heavier), they’re 2.4v (not an issue) and can sometimes be tricky to find in 32h.

@Señor_Bear how does the bracket attach? Is it all about drilling a small hole in the guard to mount the bracket?
-
• #2175
Yep.
anyone used a front light on the front of their mudguard?
Namely an Edelux2
