Whats your point?
Brompton DO use chromoly steel...
-
• #6678
Really? I never knew. There's no mention of it on their site, but that's good to know. Thanks!
-
• #6679
I thought they were gaspipe hi ten or mild steel
-
• #6680
They mention Cromo here

They have this weird materials PDF worksheet task thing though which says mild steel.

How would I know?
I don't know what the hell they're made from. Just posting my findings -
• #6684
Brompton chat-bot is currently telling me it's 'similar to chromoly'.
-
• #6685
sorry I thought you knew more, just a random thing you found then I guess?

Haha sorry, didn't mean to be snappy. Yeah I've no idea, just googled. You're the expert boss

So as I use my Brompton less and less I think it’s soon time to move him on..

Virtually all tempered steels are cro-moly alloys. It’s steel, with the main alloying elements being chrome and molybdenum. Reynolds 531 is managanese-molybdenum, just to be different.

Is there a firmer rear suspension block that's stiffer than the firm block i already have fitted?
-
• #6693
Yeah, Sjs do one that's been discussed a few times. Good upgrade IMO.
-
• #6694
is it this one?
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/frames/joseph-kuosac-suspension-block-for-bromptons-super-firm-black
I might get that and some Kojaks as a mini upgrade
-
• #6695
Yeah that’s the one!
-
• #6696
Well worth it. Would say I noticed the suspension block upgrade more than Kojaks.
-
• #6697
Hmm i want them but they're not an essential upgrade, I have the standard brompton tyre on there at the mo (from 2015).
stopping the squish of the rear end is more important at the moment
-
• #6698
I have some black Kojaks you can have for a tenner if you'd like. I don't really need 4.
-
• #6699
Totally agree. Stopping bounce in the rear makes a huge change

.
No, and that's my point. I wish they would, but then I shudder what the price would be.
