weeaboo
Thanks!
Didn't know this was a word.

I think I prefer Japanophile.
TBH I should have worked that one out myself.

Also Otaku

That's just a generic nerd/enthusiast.
-
• #2483
I meant when used to describe someone who isn't Japanese.

"curated reality"
Actually heard today. -
• #2485
Today I swear I heard a bloke on the phone repeatedly use the term "whiteloving" to mean "giving a client special attention". Anyone heard of that?
-
• #2486
No, but I've heard of 'white glove treatment'.
-
• #2487
That must be it

'"It's a living document"'
Usually identifies a document that should be written properly, but no-one has got round to it.

what's their "strat". have they got their "strat" locked down? have they used any other of the big "strat" houses
grrr

Is "strat(egy)"?
-

Gotta be honest, the first part sounds like someone who's just puzzled at words used in a specific field. The sentence quoted from the ONS is specifically from a document about their methodology, it's kind of to be expected that this will not be readily understandable to people not working in that field.
The second part however is 80% marketing hogwash and specifically designed to sound nice, but not really mean anything specific. I feel like hating on that is pretty justified.

"The 411"
i think it means "information".
-
• #2498
The only 411 that ever mattered. Skate vhs ftw.
-
• #2499
I spent decades assuming people were referencing the skate vids whenever talking about 411, not really understanding the connection most of the time but shrugging it off. I only found out about 4 years ago it's a relative of 911

411 was the number used for directory services in the US. Back when yellow and white pages were a thing.
On that note. Thought this might be a good place to ask.
Is the a neat word for the fetishization of Japanese culture?
