Ok great, thanks. I see what you mean and that is what I have done (phew!)

On a general note how bad would it be if it was built the wrong direction? Would it be a terrible idea? The angle of the spoke hole seems bery very marginal (if any!) from what saw the first time I got the rims
Also, might be a second stupid question but their rims with brake surface are grooved. Does it matter what direction the grove is in?

Bad as spoke or nipple failure T the rim are more likely due to the excess bend

Freehub question: I have a Zipp 404 rear wheel with a 10-speed Shimano freehub . I'd like to run a 11-speed Campagnolo cassette and was hoping to swap the freehub body.
I'm pretty sure it's a 2008 model (24 spokes, aluminium brake track) and I cannot find a freehub body anywhere for what I believe is the 208 rear hub.
Were conversion kits available for pre-2009 hubs? I'd like to avoid buying a new hub and rebuild the wheel if possible. -

I don't think these hubs were 11 speed compatible even with a campag body fitted. The cassette fouls the hub shell like on older hope hubs.

Thanks for the info. I sent you a message yesterday via your website BTW.

Does anyone know where I could order a pair of Kinlin XR31t in silver 32h, UK EU etc?

Kinlin XR31t

Good find - shame it is disc otherwise would do. Silver disc rim seems pretty niche!
Anywhere else I should look? -
• #8361
Bikehubstore (US)...

Thanks - thought I'd seen them US but couldn't remember where. Guess how many in stock though! Will keep looking or maybe go Ambrosio P20.

SPA cycles, the cycle clinic
Didn't see the silver part, forget it -
• #8364
@cycleclinic has a kinlin hook up and is all set up for web sales, otherwise I think we can get them but are less set up for such things.

what's the MTB equivalent of Kinlin XR31T? Disc, 29", 32 hole
Thanks
-
• #8367
29"
The 29" equivalent of any 700C rim is the same 700C rim 🙂

• #8368
That wasn't the question.

That wasn't the question
Do you know what the question was? The idea of "equivalence" between rims for different disciplines seems spurious.
-
• #8371
I think the question was what does everyone more or less universally recommend for a 29“ mtb in the same way the XR31RTS gets recommended for various road stuff, although what kind of riding/bike would be useful.

Just built my first wheel - pretty happy with how’s it gone so far, and planning to get it checked over before installing. However did notice bigger than usual gaps beteeen the spoke and the flange as it leaves the hub - it’s only a 16” Brompton wheel so the angles are steepish anyway - but does anyone reckon it needs washers? (Cable free Brompton trial and error photos coming to the Brompton thread soon!). Cheers all :)

Just wondering why no love for the Record hubs? Bad flange design / wildly uneven rear spoke tensions?
I have a pair on Open Pros but they've never really been pushed that much to notice any shitness as I am generally quite weak & usually tired...

why no love for the Record hubs?
I like having £75 more than I like whatever Record brings to the party which Ultegra isn't already doing

Where should I buy CX Rays from?
The arrow points to the corresponding hub flange, i.e. if the arrow points right the spoke should connect to the right hand flange. It's a bit confusing to talk about DS and NDS when you could just as easily flip the rim over and build it the other way around, or look at the wheel from the "front" and call the DS "left". (Unless your rim has got a directional brake track or something, unlike the one in the photo)
Posting a picture of your wheel might be most helpful
