You might be able to remove it by screwing in a bolt/drill bit from the exit end and it should just pop right out.

They can be removed (although they'll almost certainly be bonded into place with some sort of adhesive so force will be required) and they could be replaced (spares can be sourced and pop rivets can be riveted) but it'd almost certainly be easier to get the remains of the old barrel adjuster out and retap the threads instead.
I've encountered a problem with my Trek 4.5 carbon frame. The dt cable adjusters have sheared off inside the mount - looking at the mount, it appears that they are riveted in in some way (it's not an allen key)
So does anybody know if these are removeable/replaceable?
