Still in development, thinking about cutting in land to check out Roubaix velodrome and a few bergs. If the weather (wind) isn't too bad there looks to be an interesting coastal route. I may also take the train down to Dover, as I've ridden a lot in Kent and the approach to the port isn't wonderful.
Can try to let you know how I get on?

I emailed and they actually had one but not the hyperdry. I know I'd regret not getting that.

Cool beans.
We will be riding Brighton to Folkestone, where I have family, and then get the train to Dover early doors.
Ferry to Dunkirk and then noodle north whilst drinking and eating lots :) -

Quilts for a 6'5" bloke - anything OTP, or am I going to have to go (semi-)custom?
-
• #631
this in size long is spec'd to fit up to 6'6"
https://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/product/stock-diamondback-topquilt-zip-footbox/
I have the warbonnet mamba (previous version) and it's great quality.
will have to allow for import duty and time to clear customs but they ship quickly if it's in stock. (their hammocks/tarps are great too)

As resident outdoor gear expert please can you advise, I want a 2 season bag, preferably down, to suit my broad (wide) and 6’2” self. If I’ve got up to/around £100 to spend (May be able to stretch) am I going to get anything lighter than 850-900g?
I’ve got a snug pack jungle bag at the moment which isn’t very warm but weighs 900g, and I’m planning on pairing whichever bag I take with a mid weight down jacket.
For North American west coast tour beginning of October, predicted night temps down to 2-4C I think.
Sorry if you’ve answered this already, I’ve gone back a couple of pages and looked through recommendations but not found anything lighter.
Sleeping in a tent , would quite like a rectangle bag rather than mummy, but they all seem heavier...

Like the large one of these (700ish grams), but less spenny
Alpkit is light, looks a bit shit and I don’t like the brand

But are all quilts backless? I thought it was just a hoodless rectangle sleeping bag? Definitely want a back.... don’t I?

For £100 you should go to Decathlon and get something down with a good fill power.
There's also this quilt which would be great http://www.trek-lite.com/index.php?threads/mld-spirit-38.6381/ -

I own the exact same one, perfect for Spring/Summer/Fall.
I'm 6'0 and quite "broad" as well, and it fits well (Got the large version). The square footbox is a plus, and you can use it as a blanket if it's really hot. Just don't get it in white like I did, it gets dirty easily. -

- don't buy from amazon
- they have not used responsibly sourced down, it has been live plucked. do you want to sleep in a bag of feathers that have been ripped off the flesh of a living goose? I hope not

Interesting - what is responsibly sourced down then?

I have the cloud cover, it's light, packs down well but it's not particularly warm with only 200g of filling. My other half bought the below bag from Decathlon and I'm pretty jealous. Packs down to the size of a 1l bottle and is a lot warmer than my cloud cover. With a down jacket on, I personally find it comfortable to around 2c. You also have pretty good warranty with Decathlon who seem to replace like for like with no questions asked.

I'm after a new sleeping bag. Requirements are: synthetic, packs down smallish, not hugely expensive, relatively warm. Any suggestions?

I'm coming to realise that my exped synmat isn't working for me. I'm heavy and I like to side sleep and I just don't there is enough air volume in it to make this comfy.

Best synthetic sleeping bags in my opinion.
