Any recommendations for earplugs?

I'd strongly recommend these.

Spendy but they're fucking excellent. I've used mine for 12 hour days through France and had no discomfort or heading issues.

A bit too much for me. Was looking at the Senner earplugs

I've had similar pairs before...

They're okay for short journeys but they probably block 20dB max because of poor fitting and the material they're made from. You'd still be looking at hearing damage at anything over 50mph.

I definitely wouldn't wear them for a days riding.

Nice little capsule you can carry in your back pocket too. Even has a ring for easy retrieval

For what it's worth I use those at gigs (when I'm running the PA). If you look at the musicians version it comes with 3 different inserts so you can choose the level of attenuation. They work in that environment and there's a version that has a useful neck strap in the same material as the plugs. That's certainly worth having at a gig, maybe less useful on a bike. I've never used them on motorbikes but I don't do much riding out of town.

It's the 1st - 5th power wheelie that got me. Goes without saying but your course knowledge has to be on point to have the front wheel up at those speeds going around there!

Saw that too but they do not say if the £175 testing fee is a one off for life or an annual thing.

I am selling my 2004 Bandit 600 SK4 as it does not meet the standards. Got a 2018 XSR700 instead which on paper meets the standards but...

If they started doing emissions for motorbikes at MOT stations, then that would be a problem for most people who have de-catted their bikes as they would need to re-install their original exhaust/air filter/ECU mapping every 12 months.

My reading was that once you pass, that's it and your specific bike is uploaded as an exemption. You'd hope that still applies when you come to sell it.

Emissions for bikes at MOT would make more sense imo. If you're motivated enough to swap out your exhaust and remap then you can have what you want.

I'm sure you could probably get some variable ECU with a "MOT" setting.

Yeah, there's something primal about the sound of a V. I do dig a screaming 4, but the noise does get a bit monotonous. It's been making me look into NC30's

I have to confess I’m not as much of a fan of the Duc V4 noise as I am of some of the others. It sounds like a lumpy twin until it gets spinning.

Can’t beat the RC/NC30 drone / moan.
