  • Built up the Pacer again, I've just started riding with a group (for the first time ever) and didn't want to use the Cross Check for everything. Last week's ride took in 35 miles of flat/mildly undulating terrain around Cheshire, Pacer felt perfect for the job, apart from the bars. I was using Spesh shallow drops, 44cm, I hate them, so got myself another Ritchey Venturemax Comp, 46 cm, heaven.
Today's ride was a completely different beast, 42 miles of Peak District punishment, loved it though. Took in the delights of Biddulph Moor, Meerbrook, The Roaches, Flash, and Cat and Fiddle, all in, about 5000ft of climbing. The kick in the pants came between Meerbrook and The Roaches, running 1x10 (38t X 11-32), my rather old and battered 105 brifter gave up the ghost, leaving me with the spinny pleasure of 38x32 for the rest of the ride.
Just been into the shed, found a pair of Tektro rl340s, 7900 downtube shifters have been ordered, it seems old school is the way to go.
If you're ever up this way, Flash cafe does excellent flapjack and strong tea.
Enjoy your weekend ride. I did.
