Is the profile similar or more like Bonts where the profile is narrow at the rear. Asking as I have some custom soles and wondering if it transferable.

I'm not going to be able to answer that with any accuracy. You'll have to go in-store and try putting them in.

whats your use here?!

Anybody tried new explore shoes? They look fire
-
• #32908
A pal of mine wore them on a bike packing trip recently (he had early access to em) and has been very complimentary shout them when I asked.
I like the idea of being stiff for pedaling but still very walkable. Quite tempted by a pair.

..but only lace option for all their shoes, so you have to stop to loosen/tighten.
-
• #32910
Same on my recons. Never once had an issue.
-
• #32911
How often do you really loosen and then tighten shoes during a ride?
-
• #32912
If my recons werent still so perfect i'd grab a pair.
-
• #32913
At least once every ride. Normally within the first kilometer.
-
• #32914
I'd say about twice every ride. I tighten them a lot more than I loosen them - putting them on in the house, I always underestimate just how tight I actually want them. And I might loosen them at cafe stop.
So am die-hard ratchet/Boa user, and interested to know - what is the advantage of laces to other people?

such a fan of the new road shoes. they look so, so good
-
• #32916
I've only ever really worn lace up SPDs (Giro Civila, the Rumbles for commuting and now I'm on some dhb Doricas) and I've never once had to adjust the laces mid-ride.

well, people are different... and seems neither of us have properly compared laces vs. non-laced ;-)
i think part of it is that i have a very wide forefoot, narrow wheel - like a duck - so all my shoes are slightly too big front-back

Have you tried Bont? Sound ideal for you.
-
• #32919
I got the (mistaken/outdated/wrong?) impression they are great for custom fit but aren't actually that wide
[edit - but looks like they now have a wide option - i should have another look]
-
• #32920
What is the advantage of laces though - comfort due to tension being applied at more points?
-
• #32922
They're pretty wide. I also have platypus shaped feet and whilst they don't make them anymore, the pair of Bont A Three's I had a good five or so years ago were the comfiest shoes I've ever used. I found Bont Vaypor's too stiff - they actually hurt my feet - but those A Three's. Man they were comfy.
