Great ride for single speeder Bailey in second too!
-

Yeah, totally. Singlespeeding the divide is next level. I rode a lot with a guy from Minnesota riding SS, it would have driven me nuts.
Bring on the pinion.
Scott you still planning to do it?
-
• #779
Yeah... Definitely. The English has been half 'plussed' but now the back end is on hold as another 'life turn' has come my way and I have to find a place to live so funds are going to be tight. One bloody day!

Closest thing to the Divide on this side of the pond? Ride a bit of it last year, would love to race it or something like it for less ££

HT550, but that's actually properly offroad, and entries are closed for 2019.
Bear Bones 200 is shorter, but you'll be able to get a place no problem.
All the other bullshit expensive races can fuck off -

Bear bones looks brutal! Been looking at the Trans Germany as well but looks like it could be a bit dull after the start:

French divide. Italy divide. And there's a Belgian one. Look on bikepacking.com

Group start for HT550 will be full for this year, but you can ride it any time you like* as an ITT.
*Avoid the group start period

Been digging up a lot on the HT550. @mostly_by_bike has the best write up by far on it. Begins here:

HT550 is brutal, but really beautiful. I didn't finish due to a dodgy knee, but I intend to go back in the next year or two and ITT it.
Qualifying for the group start is going to get harder and harder and interesting in these races booms and Alan is very selective.

Mate keeps bugging me to ride the TransAm but I'm not sure I'm into the self-sufficiency/bike-packing way of life enough for that kind of undertaking. I can't wait to see some reports from your race.
Just came across this comment. 4 years ago. You've changed man

Hahaha just like my 'I'll never wear lycra!' prediction back in Melbs... now... £££ skinsuits.
