  • The collapsible water carrying thing that we bought for camping that lives somewhere in the garage.

  • Hans Dampf/Rocket Ron is the final choice, tyre fans.

  • 2.6" front/2.1" rear...

  • Business up front, party in the back

  • Nobby Nic is the more common F to the RR Rear, I'd expect a chunkier rear tyre to go with a Hans.

  • Does nobody else use Maxxis tyres?

  • I'd like to, but I don't understand the bewildering array of options each of their tyres seems to come in.

  • I bought ardents purely for the yellow maxxis logo. Had a Maxx Daddy and a Holy Roller on my BMX when I was a wee laddy so nostalgia took over from logic.

  • I've got a 2.5 Shorty on the front and a 2.4 High Roller II on the rear.

I know what you mean on the tyre options though, there's a lot. Mostly it comes down to how sticky you want them and how puncture resistant you want them.

  • I want them

    • sticky as fuck
    • but fast rolling
    • puncture proof
    • light

    Which one do I buy?

  • Sounds like a great combo if you only ever ride down hills.

I'd love to try some Maxxis tyres but the good ones seem on the extremes of XC or gravity. Plus I can't afford to at the prices they charge.

  • sticky as fuck
    but fast rolling
    puncture proof
    light

    chewing gum

  • I may have accidentally purchased an XX1 cassette. And matching gold chain.

  • It's this sort of thing that killed the fixie

  • GOLD, I would point out. Gold.

  • gold chain

    I blame @TvH for this

  • Yanks ride Maxxis, europeans use Schwibblobble and Conti. Fuck knows what we'll ride post-Brexit.

  • How about, get the power shot and drop the hose into the water reservoir of the mobi so you can carry water about without spillage?

  • On the theme of no idea what I’m doing- what do people carry these days in the way of pumps? Still co2 canisters, or any mini pumps that will fill a plus size tyre? I don’t fancy trying to fill a 3 inch tyre with a tiny pump! Does sealant in the tyres make any difference to pumping?

Also what pump for at home to fill big tyres accurately/ seal tubeless? My old sks from the track is no good- it goes in 40psi jumps on dial!

  • I pump mine up with an SKS, then let air out via a pressure meter to get the correct value. Well, I did some time last year, now I just ride it.

  • That’s good thinking thanks. Digital gauge?

  • Yep
