Dull race but fairly typical for Melbourne.
I don't why this year in particular but outside of the race the whole thing just felt so dated. I generally like the pundits but four men standing around in sports casual attire (ice white shoes, ice white socks with navy blue double cadet stripes...) with the odd video of someone getting chauffeured around the track in a wanker car was just mind numbingly predictable.

obligatory "same every year" comment

Eddie Jordan has to take the biscuit for this - not sure if he's on C4's "coverage" anymore but he always looked like he was trying TOO hard to look stylish, and the fact he's like 500 years old in tight pink jeans and leather jacket.
Strange how the FIA is quiet after melbourne, i guess all that money spent on investigating the new front wing and all the money teams spent implementing the changes to give us closer racing and more overtakes came to.........EFF ALL.
March 26th is where the fighting off the track starts anyhow - when they present the new 2021 regs to the teams

Eddie Jordan has always been like that, I've been away from F1 for a few years so don't even know what he looks like now but he always dressed like a fucking clown BITD...

Apparently Hamilton had floor damage resulting in poor balance.

I've never found Melbourne a good indicator of how the season is going to pan out. Changes in the wing may become more obvious as the season/cars settle but for now there'll be some considerable landscaping duties for track groundsman. FWIW i think we're in for a good season, if any south east Londoners want to find somewhere to watch the whole race i'll dig out my pink slacks and piano tie.

It was the first race I've watched for years and it was a tiring one (time difference meant it started at 1am-ish here). I definitely think that it was a slow start but I think that its often the case, especially when theres been a changes in the off season and an influx of new drivers finding their feet. I've got hope that it'll start to ramp up in the next few races. Looking forward to them getting to Europe so I can watch races on a Sunday morning instead of staying up.

Not as fas as I'm aware although it would make things very interesting. Incidentally, Jenson Button has set the unofficial lap record round there in a Mclaren as part of a publicity event. I think the problem is, as it stands, GP's are only run on FIA Grade 1 circuits. Mt Panorama is listed by the FIA as a Grade 3 circuit and it would need a ton of 'upgrades and additions' to ever have a hope of being up up to grade 1.

He's definitely one to watch. It was only 5 years ago that he entered the Ginetta Junior championship and that was his first experiences of racing a car. A pretty meteoric rise.

Just as boring as usual ! - why anyone watches F1 when they can watch Moto GP is beyond me !

Bathurst 1000 is a great race to watch. People leading the whole time then fail the last lap and vice versa. I haven't watched it since I've lived over here but was a great way to waste a day. Some huge crashes as well.

looks like sky are caving in again to get more audience share / promote interest - maybe not a lot of people jumped at the chance to subscribe to F1 channel after / during Melbourne....

I don't think the Mount Panorama track (Bathurst) is in any way ready for an F1 race. Also, I think overtaking will be worse than in Melbourne.

imagine the bumps on conrod straight in an f1 car!

i got an email from them inviting me to extend my NowTV subscription to include F1, for £5 a week or £195 a year.
Jog on.

Another season, another lot of pessimism after Melbourne shut down by a great race in Bahrain.
-
• #6793
Also, not sure if it's been mentioned, but the Honda sounds wonderful.
-
• #6794
Yeah, having to have 3 drs zones to make it happen and we are only 23 laps in yet....
-
• #6795
That was a shame at the end.....
-
• #6796
For me this is the season that doesn’t exist as I can’t watch it.

I took away 3 thinks from yesterday.
- Ferrari get your act together.
- Renault is the worst Renault powered team.
- Albon is gonna replace Gasly before the Austrian Grand Prix.
- Ferrari get your act together.
-
• #6798
Gasly really is ghastly
DRS started out as 1 zone to aid in overtaking - now there are 3 , imagine F1 without any :-/
-
• #6799
Well if I'm honest, I don't know why the rule makers are bothered with "improving" the rules so cars have a smaller wake/less dirty air. Just give anyone within a second unlimited DRS.
Saves money and has the same effect.
-
• #6800
agreed - i didnt realise until this race they have actually made the slot-gap in the DRS wider so there is even a bigger difference in speed....
Another boring race, was meant to be even faster this year.
Suppose I’ll juts hope Netflix make another season of that documentary. It was fantastic
