It ended up looking like it will clear, but I'd like a nothing half mm of clearance. I'll get back to that when it's been painted and I've found a rear hub.
Finally I had to look at the seatpost situation. It was supposed to take a 29.5 mm seatpost, which proved impossible to source, so I ordered a 29.6 mm #tester_approved Kalloy one. When it arrived it turned out that it fit when I had reamed a bit of brass for the seatpost clamp out. The seattube seemed a bit flared/mangled and it closes a bit too much for my liking, but I think it'll work.

I'll try and make a more continous flow of updates in the future.

I don't mind the dumps. But there is a lot of quality tinkering going on here for daily fixes...

Long time, no see.
Had @Hulsroy put disc tabs and guides on my old Lava Dome. Had a bunch of 9-speed stuff laying around, but wanted clutch so made a 9-speed clutched drivetrain using an X9 trigger and a SLX dérailleur. Probably needs a shorter stem, a destickering to remove the red details and a paintjob at some point...

What happened to this

Still a work in progress. The wheels are on the Lava Dome now, but a new set in progress.

Had a '91 Specialized Sirrus with a stuck seatpost that had been marinating for a while in caustic soda. Channelled some frustrations through a hacksaw, hammer and screwdriver and got the rest out.
A quick skim with the reamer and it's usable again.

Started putting a silver Rival group on it and a pair of Mavic A319 on Ultegra wheels.

I might go for a compact chainset, instead of the 130BCD Rival one, but time will tell. Think I'll put guards on it and probably stainless/chrome ones to match the groupset. My initial thought was white tape and saddle to match the decals and headset, then I went white tape and black saddle to be more period correct and then I think I've ended up going for black tape and saddle as that was what it was born with and what's easiest to keep looking decent...

Both @spotter and @Hulsroy had surplus Spatr bars for the project too, so I think that's all parts except for the mudguards - which might be stainless Gilles Berthoud ones - sorted.
What's lacking is some gear cable outer that matches the brake outer. If anyone has a link to somewhere selling that, I'll be very grateful.

Worst job ever. I absolutely hate stuck seatposts

Especially on bikes where the paint is worth saving

Don't velo orange sell outers like that?
Edit: they do:

Sure. It might be this one, right ? https://www.cnc-bike.de/product_info.php?cPath=163_442&products_id=13789
Then all the surplus canti braze ons got removed and I removed the new disc and cable guides as well as I wanted to run a continous outer for the 1x10 setup and the brake hose routing didn't seem to fit the disc tab.
