The spacing between the buttons is being readjusted for that very reason (as well as making the button holes horizontal).
This is just a sample jacket made from spare linen our manufacturer had. So this colour probably won't be in the final line up (though we do actually really like it). We're probably going to have 4 colours - navy, indigo, tabacco brown, and something a little punchier like a burnt orange or deep mustard yellow. The next stage is to trial different linens. Out of interest, what colour would you want if you could have any?

We're even considering this linen denim (the first of its kind that we've seen that actually looks and feels like cotton denim).

Yep - I suspect those will be popular colours.
That's a great chore jacket - love the colour. Interesting (especially from a French brand) that they've decided against the internal chest pocket on the right hand side. We took a lot of inspiration from the original bleu de travail jackets, and it's a near ubiquitous feature on those. Like this and this.
Each to their own, of course. :)

i have a soft spot for tobacco chore coats with a darker collar, but can't justify a new purchase given I have both a tin cloth jacket and wool mackinaw cruiser from Filson.

When you have finished versions let me know - I must have 8/9 chore jackets/blazers in various guises. I’m a sucker for them!

Quick Chore Jacket update for those who expressed an interest. We've now got the second iteration of the jacket, which is much closer design-wise but still not quite there. The really exciting thing is we've found a linen that is a) different b) perfect for the jacket. It's a really solid 500gsm and gives us the sturdiness we were looking for. We're road testing it right now and it's had a unanimously good reception, which is always promising. I'd be intrigued to hear what the LFGSS Chore Jacket connoiseurs think (pictured here in red, but will also come in a dark indigo and another colour).

Would love to see it in dark indigo, got any pics of that?

Is there an internal pocket
-

Not yet. But we will do soon. I'll post it as soon as we do.

There is, yeh. A right hand inside chest pocket. Which will be natural linen (like the patch in the gusset of our shirts).

That last button still seems low - but maybe a trick of the model having his hands in the pockets.
I like 5 button personally.
Pointed Button loop on the sleeve cuff is nice

Hard to see from the pics but it looks a hair too long and collar could be bigger. I always thought a raglan shoulder might work on that kind of unstructured jacket, but I’ve never seen it done so maybe it looks crap
Edit: are you doing the olive one up thread? I’ll take one if so

Good point on the length, could work well a bit shorter, making it lean more towards casual than a proper jacket? If that makes sense?

Where can I buy tracksuit bottoms/joggers for wearing out and about? Need something that looks better quality than the £15-20 pairs I have for slouching around but without any major branding/logos, knee articulation would be nice.
And in a similar vein, anyone know of any chinos with a cuffed ankle that have a button waist rather than stretch?

Norse projects have some decent joggers.
Refuse to discuss cuffed chinos

Cheers will take a look.
I'm not sure what happened to me but I can't wear normal trousers anymore- either have them rolled up to above the ankle or tucked and rolled so the look like a cuff.

I'm sorry but that's just not acceptable form.

Considering to sell my Filson short cruiser jacket in black, size M. Not my photo, obvs, but it's this model. Barely used as it's a size too small for me.
Anyone interested?

Rogue territory have a chore style jacket in 'jungle cloth' along a similar vein with raglan sleeve. I love my one!

Le Tricoteur are makers of the best machine-knit Guernsey style sweaters but I don't really go for the reversable neck shape. Does anyone here know of a company that does one with a more standard crew neck while retaining that fantastically tough knit that doesn't snag or stink and wears like iron? I had a knitter change the neck on mine but it was very expensive.
I've tried Guernsey Woolens and they aren't near as good. -

Never heard of them before thanks. What’s wrong with the neck?

I've got this from Labour and Wait
https://www.labourandwait.co.uk/products/guernsey-sweater-navy
I've worn it more or less daily for 18 months now. Washed it once due to stains, not due to smells. There's literally no signs of wear apart from the neck having adjusted when I chose sides.
Before this, I had their Breton sweater for a few years but wanted something new. The Breton sweater held up incredibly well but I think this one is even more hard wearing.
If I have to complain I'd mention the slightly short sleeves, but that's more to do with me being tall and lanky with chimpanzee arms than their sizing I think
I think we'll do a Founder Member pre-order discount just before we put it into production. Won't be cost price again though, I'm afraid!
