Kona dad biek needs some serious TLC. It was savaged by a few years of beach trips and salty sea air when we were away and hasn't really recovered.
Needs a full strip and re-build. I'd like to get it set-up in a similar fashion to these kinds of builds (because you’re basically nobody if you’re not running a retro mtb touring machine these days!).
Perhaps a home grown paint job would be fun to try. The current one was done by the previous owner and is truly awful (decals applied post powdercoat and peeling off!) so it couldn't hurt to try and do a better job. That is definitely tinkering for the summer though.
With three kids now I'm trying to justify a cargo bike to my wife, but she has correctly pointed out that we're moving back to London next year and where the hell would you store one of those!? I don't like the idea of something so expensive being locked-up outside the whole time. Perhaps I could convert the Kona to have one of those 20" front wheel cargo forks (though those rad Crust ones are basically impossible to get hold of) and get one or two kids in there. Needs some investigating. Or a trailer.
