People are importing from Japan more than ever, it appears Japan, from my very basic viewpoint, is not a buyer of cars that could be future classics. Collectors there seem to buy brand new cars and store them.

<70k 993 cars produced in total.
996 was nearly triple.

To use an M3 as comparison, the E36 which was the same time as the 993, all of the 993 range equalled the M3 in production numbers, moving to the 996 which competed against the E46, the 996 was nearly double the M3 in production numbers.

As another comparison, there about 50,000 fewer E30 M3s produced than the Carrera 3.2 (pre-964, same era as 930 but no turbo), yet the 3.2 and E30 M3 go for similar prices based on condition.

I wonder what the Jap and SA market is like? Any other RHD countries you could export to? You never know, with a monopoly money pound the sterling value may be in for a boost.
C16 cars are always going to be at a premium in the UK, I would imagine that it works the other way round as well, so to get big money in Oz you'll need an Australian market car. They also have huge import taxes to deal with, IIRC.
Also the overs market in the UK is unique - buying cars at list and then flipping them for a 60-80k profit used to be the standard, which means that people have bought second hand cars for list+60k assuming that they'll be able to sell for even more (with a bit of luck) or break even (if unlucky), after driving the car for six months. If the cars "correct" to their RRP then these speculators will lose their shirts.

I meant 3.2, I've edited it above but here's the prices:
3.2 was £22.5k when new in 1989 - inflated price £55k - average condition car about £50k
E30 M3 £28k when new in 1989 - inflated price £68k - average condition car about £50k -

I would but I'd have to leave the house.

But isn't the insurance so expensive that they can't afford expensive cars?
That said when all the bankers have to relocate following the Brexit offshoring of our financial services industry they'll need cars to buy and not drive.

Insurance, road tax and VRT are all appalling over here.

Google translate tells me
“THIS VEHICLE IS OPENLY SOLD BY ONLINE AUCTION ON http://WWW.VAVATO.COM”
Which makes sense

I think a 355 berlinetta with a peanut butter interior is my hero car of that era.
Maybe a targa in Verde Silverstone or Le Mans Blue

Overvalued more like.
How rare are Porsches anyway? I know there are some rare ones, but overall were even the air-cooled ones that low production?
