  • Curious as to how come?

    I can't reference this, but have heard it said that more emissions are emitted during manufacture than the vehicle will then produce over the average lifespan of said vehicle.

    Hence replacing an older, less efficient car with a modern, more efficient one will reduce emissions at the point of operation, but increase them overall.

  • Also consumption of large amounts of raw materials, especially aluminium, plastics, and in the case of electric or hybrid vehicles, rare metals

  • Read this too in a few respected places and it makes sense I think.
