  • Thanks J + B
I'm intrigued by the PP. Should work well with my lovely porteur bike.
(which is slowly bringing back my almost completely lost mojo).
If anyone sees me reverse commuting my way down to KCH- say hi- I'm quite friendly most of the time.

  • I've got a Carradice waxed cotton cape and a Lidl fluro plastic hiking one. Both work pretty well; the Carradice has waist tapes so it flaps around less, but is less waterproof (though that's possibly because it needs re-waxing), and the plastic one packs down lighter and smaller, but may I suspect be less durable in the long run.

Depending on how tall you are and how the cape falls you may get a bit of rain coming in underneath and onto your lower legs; I considered getting some of the Carradice spats, but decided it was probably a bit much faff for the handful of times a year I actually would have to ride through pissing rain. I also occasionally get damp shoulders I'm not sure whether that's because the fabric needs reproofing, or because I'm sweating where the cape sits on my body. But if you run any way hot like me, a cape is by far the best solution to cycling in civvies IMO.
