Would any of the major car manufacturers even consider moving away from diesel and petrol if it weren't for Tesla?

Of course he's not perfect, but who is? All in all though I think he does more good than harm. Even if his particular ventures aren't the best way forwards, he's pushing things in a better direction, forcing others to reconsider what they're doing.
