Don't say you weren't warned what turning right would entail! My choice would be to head south into town and back out west again, it's a little longer but a lot nicer.
I agree entirely,
but the grim route had the advantage of needing no navigation.
On a bike with more resistant tyres, the obvious route would have been,
down to Camden and pick up the canal round to Greenford and Ruislip Road home.
