  • Drop outs were machined from plate as I didn't have any PMW ones floating around

    *calls child services*

  • Glad to hear that the parts are being put to good use! And that bike is immense!!

  • Sweeeet!
FWIW my first bike came from the address at which your business is currently located.
    Around 50 years ago....

  • These little bikes are so so so so good!

  • Rob is gonna love this bike. Did he paint it himself?

  • Jokes aside though. Saddle looks a tad too high for him.

  • Hahah

  • I would join in, but we ride the same size bike....

  • Wish my dad was a bike builder...

  • What's the approximate cost of one of these bling balance bikes to the average punter?

    Asking for a friend*

*I think my 1 year old would be loathed to describe me as his "friend". I'm currently summoned by raspberry blowing

  • WOW.... amazing! in a good way

  • Tbh it's not viable, you'd have to buy a complete balance bike to chore the bits from, then the cost of the frame. I did contemplate buying a load of parts from Taiwan, and doing a big batch of frames, but life (isen) got in the way.

I think oversized non milk bearing slave may be a better description ;)

  • I built this using off the shelf bits.

  • Mind telling me Ball Park cost (minus frame and fork)?

  • About 150 quid. Everything was from SJS, I think, except the saddle. Everything apart from the wheels and saddle are basically standard parts chopped down to size.

  • it's when you want to add brakes and cranks in small size it get's difficult.

  • If you're adding cranks to a balance bike you be doing it wrong!

  • Think I have a commision for a balance bike, not sure whether to go regular triple triangle style or the single front tube/single set of 'stays' way that you went. Would you say the ones you built were stiff/strong enough? The recipient of whatever I make is not going to treat it well! I think there's a donor bike so I'll just be doing the frame.
