  • It’s no Omega, but is the most accurate watch on the page

Edit - ...and this page (so far)

  • That is lovely, really understated. I have the same Pilot Vanishing Point too 👍

New arrival for me today although I’m not wearing it until the racing strap arrives, ‘69 Seamaster chronograph.

  • Friday!

  • A lowly SKX (compared to today's posts) on a timefactors nato...

  • What’s the reference?

    145.016 -68

861 movement, applied logo, long indicies, radial sub dials but it was the orange hand that made me blow the watch fund.

  • You could counter by saying that you get something bespoke and lets you add over time...

...but when so many end up as Subs, Sinns, or Tudors I do wonder what the point it - especially Sinns and Tudors. Also the middle range Seikos are so similar sizing to the SKX007/9 and tend to be better with better movements, so I wonder why not just buy those?

At the moment I'm keeping my modding desires in check by trying to "stay true" to the og ethos / vibe of the SKX (that sentence makes me a little bit sick) which is why I'm not sure about things like ceramic bezel inserts.

All that said I am currently trying to get a sub-style bezel... for a watch I've just put an Oyster bracelet on... but that's because I think the bezel is pretty weak - a bit too shiny and slippy - I've started using it a lot and am now really noticing it.

No one seems to comment on the bigger SKX007/009 bezel, so I wonder if it works better being a little bigger.

  • That really is lovely.

  • I looked at modding an SKX for about five minutes and then I saw what you can get a turtle for. So I bought a turtle.

People like the skunkworks/personalisation factor though isn’t it, like a Golf with many dollar thrown into modding it instead of buying something actually good/fast in the first place.

  • The Samurai is another great one.

Unfortunately Seiko don't make any of those in smaller sizes which is what I liked about the SKX013. Annoyingly I missed out on a good deal for a 2nd hand Oris 65 on a bracelet. Since then I've decided to just wear this...

... but possibly also replace the movement and bezel.

The personalisation angle is a major consumer trend. Just look at how many models and sub models of (essentially) the same cars there are. Same with the earlier discussion of the no of Tudor BBs.

  • A smaller prospex level vintage style diver would do very well for them I think. Dunno why there isn’t one in the whole range.

I’m wearing the MM200 today, again.

  • This is absolutely fantastic.

  • Request denied. Joint second ;-)

  • Depends how recently Pifko’s has radio synced... mine gains 2-3 secs a week if it hasn’t synced.

  • Also, yeah, dat seamaster chrono, holee shit.

  • Mine hasn't lost a single second in three weeks so far. But admittedly I didn't realise it was atomic/radio. @regal the Seiko looks great by the way.

  • Cheers. It’s become my daily (at least until I get the Squale back from @inchpincher).

Yeah nothing’s challenging you in the accuracy stakes, the quartz movements in G-shocks are nothing special but radio sync gives a brief illusion of hi tech accuracy. :)

  • 40mm Everest back from repair, I hadn’t worn it in a long time due to dubious timekeeping and a poor power reserve. Running perfectly now. I tried it on the bracelet first and it looked odd, so I put it on a NATO - this is how it looks best, I reckon.
