Yeah, I wasn't really thinking straight earlier, I have xd drivers on two mtbs.
Changing freehub I suppose isn't a huge upheaval.
I'm gonna go read all the official blurb on it just now too see what exactly is new. Still not convinced 12 speed on road was really necessary. Fair enough eagle on mtb could give more evenly spaced gears over a larger range.
But not sure how many folk grumble about having gaps in an 11 speed road cassette.
Maybe the 1x11 gravel bikes could have the problems of gaps.
