  • So after buying one from @pdlouche I can say that I enjoy wearing a watch every day. So I can move on with the plan, namely getting myself a 24h watch, or failing that a GMT.

I see there were talks about GMTs a few pages back, but would anyone like to offer recommendations for 24h watches? Something automatic, reasonably precise and robust (I will wear it every day so it will get knocked about), not too big, budget in the hundreds rather than thousands.

If nothing fits the bill I quite liked the Steinhart GMT posted a few pages back, where would one go to try one of these or something approaching to get an idea of the fit etc (in London)? I'm still a total watch noob so bear with me.

    cheers!

  • I have a Steinhart Ocean One GMT with the black ceramic bezel and an Oris Big Crown GMT with the seconds on a subdial.

They're both nice - the Steinhart is a daily watch and the Oris I put on when I'm wearing a suit. The Oris is quite big but I like the legibility. Unfortunately there's something wrong with the power reserve though and it stops overnight - demagnetising worked initially but has stopped working.

I like the idea of the Glycines, but they're expensive and the numbers are tiny so I felt the lack of legibility made them less appealing than a GMT watch. I rather like the Breitling Navitimer 8 Unitime I posted a few pages back, but it's a lot of money for me.
