I’d say it’s still Liverpool’s to lose. Three points ahead and what’s allegedly the easier fixture list ahead of them vs City.
-
• #148753
I'm pretty confident Liverpool will fuck it up somehow.

that's poor form from Klopp. Liverpool were lacklustre last night and had ran out of ideas. West Ham deserved the three points. for Klopp to blame the referee like that. tut tut tut
this is an excellent season. I don't really believe spurs are in it but very tight between city and Liverpool.

Last nights result doesn’t matter.
City are getting docked 15 points because of this:

Klopp appears to be fully integrating to Liverpool FC mode. He gets a an incorrect decision that leads to a gola, and another decision that should've led to a goal, and he's still the victim.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the referee's performance was affected by an assistant referee's mistake for Sadio Mane's goal against West Ham.
Mane's opener stood despite James Milner being offside in the build-up.
Michail Antonio equalised for West Ham before the break but Klopp says referee Kevin Friend "did not want to open the gap any more" in the second period.

He's as bad as Mourinho, terrible case of Kopitis...

It's working though isn't it? Everyone's focused on his comments rather than the players.
Poor display last night, so many passes just behind where they needed to go; it's like the players are too wary to really charge forward like they used to. -
• #148766
yep, the performance was almost exactly the same as the leicester game. Previously we could just keep probing and eventually a goal would come, but without that rock solid back line we're too wary, and then end up conceding. Then its an hour of panic station!

As someone who has followed Chelsea since the early 1960s, the first and most important priority each season is to avoid relegation. Once that is achieved, one can relax.
At present, after 25 games, we are on 50 points. While most commentators say that 40 points should bring safety, I think we are all wise enough to remember West Ham going down with 43 or 42 points and the mathematical possibility exists of going down with a greater number.
As the season progrtesses, the number of points required drops.
Cardiff are in 18th place. They have 22 points. If they win their remaining games, they will finish the season 11 points above us if we lose ours. Obviously, teams just above Cardiff would also have to do well but they would not have to do as well as Cardiff who could afford to lose three games.
Squeaky bum time.

And congratulations to Liverpool who are now safe from relegation.

he is not in the same league.
I still have a lot of time for Klopp. Mourinho was the worst in every single way.

Thought you’d have something better to say than this sub mikec reverse hex nonsense, especially after your big signing scored two goals on his home debut, albeit against Huddersfield and your new manager getting things back on track.
On a Sarri note, regular guardian columnist Johnathon Wilson believes Sarri needs two seasons to put his idiosyncratic football philosophy in place and that Chelsea aren’t going to give him two seasons, and that he’ll be gone soon enough.. -
