also: pretty sure MM ain't no southpaw.

    nise thoe.

  • Was trawling gumtree etc for cheap old teles for my esquire with a bigsby project.

Used to be able to find a beat up squire for £120 in every s/h on any high street. Not so much these days it turns out. Everyone wants £300 plus... what gives?

  • pretty sure the pics on the crack-converters website are reversed.

  • Those Duo Sonics are lovely, missed out on a '58 for pennies BITD...

  • Hahaha

  • Hnnnnng! That 100w Bassman stack is now 800 quid! I have no need of this but look how cheeeep it is now! Someone buy it!

  • Looking for a 2nd hand (Jazz preferrably) bass.
Anyone selling a Squier (Indonesian or above) or Mexican Fender out there?

  • ^^ Love that Bassman, but too big for my humble needs...

Having sold the Pro Reverb I kinda fancy a new amp but it'd have to be 1x12, reverb/trem if poss, and possibly 6v6s tho I'm a 6L6 fan. A friend has the perfect thing, fondly known as the Deluxton... a beautiful 70s Princeton Reverb that arrived horribly modded, so he rebuilt the guts as a 20w Deluxe Reverb. Alas don't think he's selling, even though he's got about seven vintage Fender amps. Bah.

  • I’m on the lookout too. Similar brief to be honest.

  • anyone have any good solutions for keeping guitars on a wall without them looking showy or with big ugly hangers?

I've got a whole bunch in my living room on individual stands but would like them up on the wall above a sofa or something, filed up neatly and making good use of space with a nice/minimal way of hanging them. I'm not looking to display them or show them off.

anyone seen anything interesting? I'm thinking of fabricating a rail from box section stainless with sliding hangers of some kind or using clear polycarbonate to detract from any obvious looking wall fittings. but inspiration would be cool. everything I've seen so far looks a bit of an after thought

  • Is this legit? It’s in the “too good to be true” price bracket, and although the headstock shape has changed a lot over time, this one looks off.

  • Looks very fake to me... can't say with absolute certainty from the angle of the picture but I wouldn't be surprised.

  • the third patent number under the Fender logo is incorrect, and the serial number and placement of it look sus...I call fake

3,143,028 the patent granted in August 1964 for Fender's adjustable neck construction.

  • Thanks both!

  • Never seen a genuine headstock quite like that, top curve is too soft

In other news I just bought an olympic white 1978 Musicmaster bass and a fender rumble 15 v3 so I will definitely be getting my funk on this weekend

It also now means I have 3 olympic white guitars, 78, 82 and 92 with varying levels of blondeness, looking forward to the insta post with all 3 :D

  • From experience (all be it 15 years ago now) the MIM Jazz vary hugely from bass to bass. Some sound absolutely dead out the box so would try before you buy. There are some awesome ones though, kept my Mex over the American when I downsized.

I've got a walnut finish squier jazz that I don't get a lot of use from. Could potentially be up for flogging it it to go towards new amp... I'll take some pics tonight.

I put up hangers when we moved in last year. I'm not a fan of "displaying" stuff either but it was a case of wanting the guitars to hand and and out of reach of grimy toddler hands. I bought three cheap and unobtrusive Stagg hangers and put them on the wall by my desk behind the living room door so they're pretty hidden away. They seem pretty sturdy even though they're on a stud wall have had no issues even with a heavy J bass on one.

Might put up a few more to be honest because I usually have around 6 guitar shaped objects kicking around at any one time so there's still stuff on stands to trip over and for babies to hurt themselves on.

  • Ideal - No rush!

  • Tuuuuune

  • Of course the issue with hanging guitars up is that you then have to store the cases somewhere...
