No longer the case, WT pros can now race, witness James Shaw and Mark Padun featuring at the sharp end of the u23 Worlds in Innsbruck.
A lot of good that did James Shaw mind.

Wonder why they've made it flatter... LBL was interesting precisely because it had that finish. It seems they just want Milan San Remo v2
-
• #20055
It traditionally had a flat finish, it's only finished in Ans for the last 25 years or so.
The race had become formulaic, effectively a Milan-San Remo for those punchy climbers with a sprint, i.e. Valverde, Gerrans, Matthews, etc. Now those climbers without a sprint have got to think about where they make their move to get rid of the likes of Matthews and maybe even Sagan.
Look at the Amstel Gold, since they've moved the finish away from the top of the final climb it's become a much more dynamic and tactical race, and far more interesting to watch.

Can he still race U23 worlds etc now he’s stepped up?
Notably he won't have any opportunities to wear his Rainbow bands this year.
-
• #20057
it's ok, judging from his instagram I'm not sure he's going to let anyone forget
-
• #20058
Well you wouldn't would you? I'd ride to the pub in the rainbow stripes if I'd earned them
-
• #20059
you're right, of course. I'm just being salty

Did we have this? Sorry if repost.

I think the pic has got him bang to rights. Deceuninck must be delighted.

He's a good boy really. He loves his mammy and attends mass whenever he can to light a candle to the saints. This is an isolated incident and will be sent on a gender awareness course, case closed.
-
• #20064
He’s 36. Not a kid like Sagan was when he goosed the podium girl.
-
• #20065
Gilbert? What'd he do?
-
• #20067
What an utter idiot.
Needs to be fired. -
• #20068
Team said that he apologised and that was that as far as they were concerned supposedly. I really do hope not. The organisers at least need to boot him or maybe the court schedule his appearance during a stage so he gets a DSQ at least.
-
• #20069
If I did that in the office I'd be fired. Being a pro cyclist does not entitle you to act like a dick, Or some immunity.
I can only hope their sponsor is smart and has a word.
Its high time for professionals to act professional and be treated accordingly. This leniancy to unacceptable attitudes or behaviour is not ok.

He's rooming with Evenepoel too apparently. Makes it worse IMO

You'd think a 36 year old could set a positive example on and off the bike.
The race organisers have ejected him from the race because of this incident and the negative publicity its caused.
-
• #20072
Good.
It will be hard to get rid of this behaviour altogether while there are still "podium girls" in cycling, telling moronic young cyclists that women exist to look pretty and serve their needs.

You'd think a 36 year old could set a positive
Oh he certainly has had that.

Wonder what the sponsor will do. The Flemish 'public opinion' (this is a poll on newspaper HLN's website, almost 19,000 votes) does not yet look ready to accept that women do not want to be treated like that ('terecht' = Keisse was justly kicked out of the race, 'onterecht' is the opposite)
Update: Lefevere is mad as hell about the organisation of the Tour of San Juan kicking out Keisse even after he paid the fine of 80 dollars for his misbehaviour, and considers to pull his team from the race. Says that 'the woman probably wants to see more money or something'.
Ouch.

Deceunick-QuickStep riders boycott the podium presentations in Argentina today.
Classy.
Not once you're worldtour IIRC
