@hippy I use these in a bay window (so similar situation in terms of no overlap). although there is visible light round the edges, the extent to which they let ambient light in is minimal. you can see that there is light outside, but unless you are particularly fussy, they're absolutely fine. They let it considerably less light than that (albeit shit) curtains they replaced.
Get these and make sure they cover a bit around the window.
