  • Looking for a new style Pre Cursa frame 58cm.

I have a mint Specialized Langster Pro 2011 56cm soon to be for sale once I have the PC frame.

  • PC with lipstick? Twice the price too...

  • Different frame; better tubing, different ends, maybe tapered fork/HT.
Big variation in sizes on (DB3) & more paint finishes, prob ordered in much smaller batches or as one-offs hence the price leap, or maybe fabricated or finished more locally than Far East.

Each frame above appears slightly different:

    • Blue and black look like they could have a tapered HT while orange appears straight 1-1/8th.
    • Orange fork legs also appear to differ, unless it's just bad photoshop.
    • Blue & orange share the same track ends & stays.
    • Black one appears to have a fatter top tube, different track ends & stays...

... But these again seem to change depending on what frame colour is selected (!?).
DB 1 (in brushed alu or bronze pics) looks like it could be a Histo type faux-pro with a reasonably short HT, which is good for fixed TT/track pursuit types (thumbs up!).

lol, credit where credit's due, maybe they're ripping my idea of having three nearly identical frames of the same type, but building each up differently :-D

  • I'm struggling with the concept that it's a new model but yet it's pretty much half price of the c. £1k RRP.

  • I would just buy a Seta (they were down to £480 a few weeks back so would be open to an offer). Pity they didn't offer a full carbon fork on the Seta as it would make a very light bike as Seta frame is about the lightest track frame available.

  • Cool, but is it compatible with Omniums?

  • that's how I interpreted the part about "fixed gear riding optimised chain stays"

  • How does the matte black finish stand up to street use?

  • Holds up amazing, this is mine after 2 years of polo:

  • Fair play

  • Matte black factory powder coat on my Pursuit Champion is brilliant (resists chips, stays matte) but my partner's black (2015 IIRC) Pre Cursa chips and glosses up at the slightest knock.
Maybe the paint finish has improved since then.

  • Spotted in the IP yesterday; marked up as an 'Echolon' but looks similar to the Pursuit Champ?

  • You’re spot on. This was one of the first ‘fixed TT’ bikes I ever saw and I spent months looking for info on Echelon bikes and this particular model. Only realised it was a badged up Pursuit Champ years later after buying my own.

    Edit: something like this:

  • Just seen your comment in my email notifications and first thought was 'was it a white one?' ha... Think it's branded by a bike shop.

  • Looks great in white IMO (like a track champ but better, lol).

  • What front brake is that? I have a TRP one similar but couldn't get it to work with the Oval fork without fouling the down tube. Would make sense it it's an Ova' branded brake, but would love to find something similar, that works, without going to Tririg route.

  • Are you racing again this season?

  • I’ve no idea but proprietary Oval design for the fork makes sense. Must be tough finding something to work with the deeper tubes.

  • Not at the current rate of regression & stagnation (haven't ridden in anger since November, my commute's less than half what it was last year, and just got a car again so most of my time/money's going on that) but I do plan to later in the year :-)
IIRC our local club TTs begin around April.

  • Stupid question alert:

I was swapping forks between my two pre cursas (not quite @Lukas yet!), and somewhere along the line, one has developed some play at the bottom bearing.

Both forks appear to have crown races on them (I'm very inept of these things but it they both have a sliver crown race on and no longer look like this ). Both seem to have all the required parts, any tips on trying to eliminate the play or what to look at?

  • 182cm here, what size Pre Cursa should I be going for? Have seen some talk of downsizing etc. Will be using for general street riding.

  • Similar height, went with a 56cm. Too painfull to ride drop bars for me, now Hi-rise Mtb bars :) much nicer and fun.
If i get a Dolan again i think i will go 58cm and the longer headtube and risers.

Did the same with a Steamroller, got a 56cm but would like to try a 59cm, but finding the roller with a short high rise stem and pursuit bars a nice middle ground, again much fun with mtb riser bars on.

  • I would say that if it’s for street riding, do not downsize. You want comfort and a more upright riding position than on the track.

Edit: looking at Dolan’s size guide, you are on the border between 56cm and 58cm so for street riding, I would suggest 58 but for the track 56. Better if you can actually try both sizes out before buying.

  • I am a quite shortlegged 1m81 and went for a 54.
I do have to say I run quite a lot of drop too.
According to your preference ild go either way
