In my absence from home (Melbourne) my father in law has been collecting caads. Here is a caad 4, full DA he got for a pittance

This is absolutely rad. 10/10 would take for groceries.

Isn't it!
I really want one of these forks now for running around town collecting bits -

It's a topic of much debate, but discs + tandem = bit of a no no really.
Ended up reading up on this recently. Thorn has an interesting bit of text on page twelve of their tandem brochure.

What a coincidence — I got chatting to a chap riding a Thorn tandem with his daughter in the West End on Saturday morning and he told me exactly this. They were pretty brisk!

Ha! I wouldn't be surprised that the owner was clued up - Thorn make their opinions on the matter pretty clear. There's even another full page on their website about tandem braking with some maths, interesting stuff.

Tl;dr don’t drag your brakes - get fast or stop.

AS I recall the thrust of the argument was that on a long descent — such as this chap had undertaken in the Alps on the tandem — you can boil the fluid in a hydraulic disc system, causing complete brake failure. Is this worse than exploding the tyre on a rim-braked wheel because the rims are grossly overheated? Answers on a postcard, as ever...

One can be repaired inexpensively by the road, the other cannot.
Anyhoo.

Has anyone used one of these Hylix seatposts on their caad12?
I desperately need an inline post and this is the only thing i can find

Is this 'Murica based?
-

Yep, the name implies something german(?) but sadly it seems to be sold from the other side of the world. I guess you could always ask - chances are that it's welded somewhere in southern China.
To main design ideaseems really well thought out

Featured on Prolly in '10. I expect it'll be hard to get one here.

ENVE is an option

I have one of these from aliexpress that's been fine. Not the best looking as it gets wider near the top though. Mine doesn't have logos

Sadly they don't make a 25.4mm inline, only with a setback

thomson?

• #10821
Thomson would suit but ideally I want a carbon post, caad12 is harsh enough as it is
-
• #10822
If it's harsh then a little setback would help. The Cannondale posts are 15mm setback so fall in between a traditional setback and inline.

Just became member in the Cannondale club.
Found a 2008/2009 barely used Hooligan at a decent deal.
Single speed and hydraulic breaks.
It´s quite fun as a city/short commute bike!

I have a C2 cannondale post, but the set back doesn’t work with my bike fit / saddle position
thinking of selling mine (used it 4 times...). What do you think is a good price? I was thinking 1500 € without the pedals. Paid 2000 € a month ago.
