As someone who did almost exactly that in Malia in 2004, I sympathise.

Greek A&E doctor was clearly pissed off with patching up tourists and wouldn’t give me any local before opening the cut with forceps to check for more glass and then stitching it.

Even pissed, it was quite painful.
