  • Emergency third brake. Bit of overkill if you have V brakes but if you carrying a load of shit and both of you weigh 90kg and you are descending an alpine col then it might save you from blowing out a tube due to the rims heating up.

  • Presumably MTB wheels should be slightly less prone to blowing out, as they are higher volume/lower pressure than road tires. I'd still be tempted to swap the front forks for some disc forks for ease of use

  • No, it's heat from the rim that damages the tube, not the increase in pressure. IIRC.

    It's a topic of much debate, but discs + tandem = bit of a no no really.

    @swedeee third brake leaver I think. It's a drag brake, so probably with a thumb shifter type device with no return spring.
