  • Update on the CGR AL build by Ribble:
Yesterday got a missed call from them
Me: Cool. Bike is being delivered very soon now SURELY.
Call back CS: Well, we're very sorry... there's a SMALL DELAY with frame production, now expected March MAYBE APRIL...
    Me: .... 🤨😨😨😱🤬🤬🤬🤬
That's after they took payment 6 weeks ago, confirmed twice the build was following its course, plus update on the SRAM shifter stock situation.
Obviously my size (XS) is not so common and either they oversold, or change their production schedule for faster selling ones like M or L, or both.
I'm rather pissed off with them.
They offered me an "upgrade" to the steel 725, which is now confirmed as being built on Monday. And the shifter is gonna be Rival rather than Apex, which they are doing for all their customers due to stock issue at SRAM.
so now I'm expecting the bike to be with me by next weekend, failing that could be any time between now and April or Christmas.

It proves one thing at least. Even before Brexit has really kicked in Justintime production schedule can go awfully bad very easily.
I had high expectations of the CGR as on paper it looks like it will deliver huge bangs for your bucks.
I hope it will up to scratch. Fingers crossed.

  • Totally frustrating, at least they are offering you something to be sympathetic for the issues? The upgrade is cool

  • Shame that, I suspect going by the lfgss reaction, that they've maybe been more popular than expected. Still, if you get a steel rival delivered next week, probably worth the delay!

  • Steel 725 is a decent silver lining I guess.

  • I’d have preferred the alu one, 725 will probably be heavier. That said, Rival is a nice step up from apex usually

  • Ungrateful fucker! Ha!
So your getting a better frame, with better gears, much quicker than your spec should be here?

Are the diamonds on your spokes not sparkly enough? :0)

  • better frame

Depends what he wanted. From memory the steel frame will be heavier by more than the groupset will be lighter. If that was important it's not exactly perfect. But yeah, a bike in the hand and all that...

  • I had a look before I got my bike and most parts look the same with a better paint. Even the whole Rival 1 group is just 50 grams lighter than Apex 1 hydro.

  • Pulled the trigger and ordered a Grevil frameset, this colour, groupset and if everything goes as planned might get these silly sp0kz to complete the "left next to radiator" look.
Couldn't help myself and did a quick mock up.
    HHSGB is the new black.

    For the haterz:

  • Well, if you're gonna be late to the party, might as well desperately stand out doing it

  • Imagine if it was fluo!

  • I hope you have access to trade prices because RRP on that is insane.

  • Not cheap but RRP is same as the new Open U.P. (which doesn’t even come with a seatpost).

  • The one listed on Sigma is the Grevil+, same mould of the Grevil but uses the same carbon fibre you can find on Dogma frames.
Frame RRP for Grevil is £3000 while Grevil+ is indeed £5000.

  • Wow.

    What made you choose that?

  • Please put the Spengle wheels on. Think of the likes (haterz gonna hate anyway).

  • Hallucinogens and a fat wallet.

  • I really wish it was the case, sober and broke for while now.

@maynardeames I wanted a gravel bike for a while now, and when your home town bicycle brand (that you happen to work for) releases one that you actually like, love how they fit and handle as you've been riding them for a while now, you have to get one right?

Hopefully will demo the Spengle soon and see if it's the case or not.

  • I get that, it’s not my cuppa, but then most things are not!

Be stoked to see some Spengle wheels on it!

  • What made you choose that?

It's subtle and pleasing looks, obvs.

  • My favourite utility car in the entire universe is the 1998 Fiat Multipla so you can get the idea of what pleasing means to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • To be fair the 725 was the one I nearly went for initially.
I Had posted earlier the weight specs I got off Ribble and (IIRC) the 725 was in front (lighter).

I should have maybe haggled for a proper upgrade with the SL.

  • Got any spare change? Give @hoops a shout!
