There was a French rugby player called Jean Condom, think he played second row - remember the legendary Bill Maclaren's commentary at a lineout, 'and the huge Condom rises above the rest...'
Edit - just done a bit more research here - Mclaren also said, 'There's Condom, the French lock with the interesting headgear', and when he had battles with Ireland's Willie Anderson, the Irish fans produced the banner, ‘Our Willie's bigger than your Condom'.
