As far as i know the chilli needs to have been air dried or cold smoked so that no heat can have killed the seeds. Chillies you have dried over the winter will grow fine. Most smoked chipotle or ancho etc chillies will have been hot smoked so the seeds may not be usable. This is just what i’ve been told, so please correct me if i’m wrong.

I've not planted any yet. Still got a couple of fruits ripening from last season.
Will seeds from smoked/dried chillies be likely to germinate?
