I thought the kit came with one? I've bled rx4s at work and I don't think we have anything on top of that kit apart from shimano little bucket thing and an extra sram connector.

Hmmmm... You mean they supplied the nipple to connect to the bleeding port?

Think it's this one, I guess it's from that kit.

Cheers man, caliper was bought second hand and didn't come with that bit.
Checked the tech docs and yeah can use the current kit with the M5 end! Winning!

The disc brakes on my cargo bike (Winther Kangaroo) have died. Are there any other options for a double disc brake system than Tektro Auriga Twin?

I once worked on a couple Cycles Maximus trikes and I think they had a system that used a motorcycle (well, moped or scooter probably) master cylinder/lever with a splitter and a pair of bicycle calipers.

If I have a frame that has Post mount front and Flat mount rear, what's the easiest set of calipers to adapt to fit, post or flat?
-
• #5484
You can't fit flat caliper on post mount afaik. so t'other way round. You after hydro? I have probably got a spare pare of spyres that'll work

You might struggle fitting a PM rear on a FM frame.
I have successfully fitted a PM caliper on a FM fork though.

I don't believe you can fit a flat mount caliper on a post mount fork. Without some very clever engineering I think it would involve negative spacers. However, you can buy OTP adaptors to allow post mount calipers to be mounted on a flat mount frame. So I'd say flat mount is easiest to adapt.

eh? You can't fit a flat mount caliper on a post mount fork, but flat mount is easiest to adapt?

I'm sure this has probably been covered somewhere on this forum at some point but what are the considerations to take into account when getting disc mounts welded on a steel fork?
And could anyone recommend somewhere to get this done in London?
Or is it going to be easier to just buy a surly fork with disc mounts on it already?

Easier and less self destructing

• #5492
Fuck it, looks like I'm going to have to buy the levers/calipers then a single flat mount caliper one for the rear
-
• #5493
Well spotted, I meant to say post mount.
-
• #5494
Might be worth getting the levers with post mount calipers, and trying to fit the rear post mount caliper onto the flat mount frame with one of these . There's no guarantees there will be sufficient clearance, but you never know. If it doesn't work then yes, it's flat mount rear caliper time.
-
• #5495
Yeah think that's what I'll do. The post mount calipers with levers is slightly cheaper anyway.

I dont think sram flat mount calipers are sold separately...

nice that must be a new thing.

New job innit
Yup, current kit is from them. Just need that grubbin to screw into the caliper, can't seem to find it on their site though...
