the biggest loser:
And then loads of them end up as Z-list fitness celebrities (workout videos, personal trainers, etc) having been on the telly.
Not entirely representative of the average population. Also studies with n<30 can >>>>>>>

Had a Skyr today, pretty good!

I had two. The strawberry was better than the peach. Neither were as good as normal yoghurt though. Might make up a batch of f&y now.

I had the Sour cherry version which went down pretty well.
Also cooked up a batch of ride nutrition for tomorrow - savoury rice cakes with peanut butter, sesame oil and salt. Trying something that’s not sweet for a change.

Has anyone got suggestions for a decent workout for someone with a dodgy knee? I managed to batter mine at work yesterday so I won't be able to cycle/run/row etc for a while. I was making some decent progress on losing a bit of fat and gaining a bit of muscle so would like to keep that momentum going as much as possible!

If you have any possibility to cross country ski / use a ski machine - it is probably the best option

Sounds like my evening too apart from I went for dark chocolate spread and philadelphia. I had coarsely grated dark chocolate with skyr in Iceland and it was delicious!

That's not an option unfortunately! I do have a gym membership but it doesn't have a ski machine.

Nothing wrong with some time off a and a small bump 29kg is great going :)

I use frozen fruit with skyr/Fage.
Tesco has a nice selection, no doubt other shops have too. It's cheap enough and no added sugar with it.
The Tesco frozen strawberries/blueberry mix is really good ATM.

Walking to work is one thing I can manage when I'm off bike actually. Depends on your knee though.
-
• #13290
I can barely walk at the minute! Will go for some walks when it's a bit better though. I work as a bike courier so going to be off work for a little bit.

Swimming is always a winner with knees. Just don’t do breaststroke.
Glad to see this thread has its annual increase in posts ;)
I’m one of them, having somehow gone from 8% to 12% BF since breaking a rib and tearing an oblique.
Trying hard, but little to no movement.
I find it hardest to shift weight when it’s cold though, even though my activity level remains constant.
Main goal for 2019- reduce my fear of riding a bike in London. Have been really struggling since the last hit. -

Sub 81kg today after the festive bounce up to 84.5kg.
I feel like my running and climbing are both doing a lot better for having a better diet. Essentially I’m just having to accept that quality of nutrition - and not overeating - both pay an important role in performance, to a degree that shouldn’t be ignored if I want to keep these things up as I get older. And if I can squeeze down to sub 80kgs and stay there, i’ll look reyt fit.

This thread is pretty inspiring, enjoying reading everyone's stories.
Have got back on the MFP and tracking my daily calories and macros.
On a side note, could a sort of brain fog be caused by diet at all?
-
• #13294
I definitely have days where I have had not enough food where it feels like my brain is working in slow motion. The brain is the most glycogen-hungry organ in the body (IIRC), so it definitely needs feeding - but I'm not sure if there is any science to back up the feeling of brain fog, as I would assume that it also has priority for any glucose in the blood
-
• #13295
Lots of mentions of brain fog as a by product of eating a processed food/carb heavy diet by those who favour a LCHF diet. I've always thought it was a bit psuedo science myself (even though I like LCHF) and is just used as a way of promoting that type of diet.
-
• #13296
Well I've been wfpb for around a year now and this is only a recent(ish) thing. I guess my diet is pretty carb heavy too.
-
• #13297
I think the issue is more if you eat a heavily processed diet. If the carbs you are getting are coming from whole food there should be less of an issue. Try cutting back on carbs for a few days maybe? Up the protein and fat to compensate and see how you feel.

Your post way back when was the thing that gave me a real kick up the arse to get serious about diet and exercise.
You’ve done it before and you know what worked - so you can do it. Fernando said you trained like a machine and he’s a hard arse!

Bulk powders vegan protein bar, yuck! Like eating chocolate sawdust. Sorry planet... back to my whey ones again next time.

Have you ever trained with that man- he's actually insane.
If you ever need a training buddy-HMU.
