that seems necessary with the swarf guards

I've not tried those...I read a good blog which made things click into place. Basically, pull the sides apart, to make the radius tighter ( in little, nicely spaced increments!) and tweak them together, to make it 'flatter' on the radius...

I gotten horribly depressed over the Christmas period and end up buying a PDW Full Metal Fender 650 Beast.
I like how it was designed with CX-length fork to begin with as the majority of bike are conversion.

They're very expensive whether a new GB mudguard is a much better value.
I got them from bike24.

Im not sure the 60mm GB will fit as nicely and the 50mm will be a tad narrow, in an ideal world I'd have black guards as well. Will mull it over a for a bit longer. 53mm Bluemels might do the job if I can source one of those extender things you used. What are they called again, rack extenders?

60mm should fit well on a disc trucker, have you measured the stay with a caliper to be certain?
-
• #3962
Not measured with a calliper but a couple of blogs and things google throws up seem to say 60mm fits nicely on the 26" Trucker Frames but needs to be bent and squeezed for the 700c frames.

Quick search and I found this;
Howdy! Thanks for the question. In our experience, 60mm Berthoud fenders are just a little bit too tight of a fit on the 700c Truckers to be ideal. They can be mounted but require a pretty significant pinch at the chainstays and between the fork legs. A 2.25″ tire is pushing the limits of what the Trucker will clear, even without fenders. IF you’re looking to go that wide you’ll almost certainly need to leave the fenders off. We typically recommend a 40 or 42mm (~1.5″ to 1.75″) tire with a 50mm fender as the sweet spot for the Trucker. I hope this helps! Feel free to call the shop or email me directly if there is anything else I can do to help!
I think 53 or 55mm is indeed a better fit.

Yeah it's surprising given the Fatties Fit Fine line that Surly trot out.
-
• #3965
To be fair they've been saying that a long time and it's only recently big tyres have been so popular and fit on so many framesets. They're also fairly conservative with what will fit

Fatties Fit Fine is a phrase from the mists of time in terms of the fat tire craze.
As to the 60mm fenders not fitting: dremel! -

Beat me to it.

Surprisingly good coverage!

60mm GBs over 1.8" knobblies: terrible idea?
I should have room for 15-20mm clearance. Quite fancy the idea of non- filthy off-roading. No knars will be had.

Not at all, go for it! Should be plenty of room.

If you ride anywhere with claggy, clay-like mud, they will absolutely fill up, but I've done a bit off off-roading with 2.0 xc tyres under the same and not really enough clearance and it's been fine.

@edscoble I am having mudguard woes.
I've run my Gorilla Monsoon with 650b 1.75 and 1.90 and the ride on the 1.90 is far nicer, I didn't expect the difference to be that great.
The main reason for going with the 1.75 was to fit guards more easily but I've paid the price of going for a cheap option (Pinnacle 650b guards designed for Arkose etc).
I want to run 1.90 Gravel King SK with guards that provide proper coverage. Is this a madman's dream? I spent about 2 hours last night trying to finesse everything to fit right and its just not working. Please help me!

Holy crap, fitted mudguards for the first time. Such a big difference riding in the rain now. Should have done this ages ago.

Definitely relevant! These cheap wald ones might just cover my 27.5 x 2.8s. Wary of the weight and inevitable rust though...
