compared to feeling 'stuffed' as you do with lots of carbs.
this is what I love though
I feel that low carb may not be your prefered weight loss option then :)

Ha, you're absolutely right. Beer is the primary reason though. More exercise and cutting out snacks is my method!

Weight loss stalled at about 5kg thanks to me EATING ALL THE BREAD!
Haven't had a chance to do 5:2 properly, real life just gets in the way too much (the only two days I can easily fast, because they don't contain shitloads of exercise, are two days that my wife and I are both in, and it's nice to have a real meal together.)
I'm probably going to cut right down on carbs (including beer) in the new year, otherwise I'm not going to make it under 80kg for April.

I have ballooned since I had kids.
Got out of the habit of the cycle commute.
Have developed some pretty unhealthy beer consumption behaviours.3 years since I was subbed to this thread.
I am probs +10kgs.
Time to do something.

I did/do 16/8 fasting which I find pretty manageable. I get to eat two good sized meals and still have a calorie deficit if I want. Not eating/drinking after 8pm means that you don't drink or snack after dinner which keeps beer consumption to a minimum.
As people have mentioned, I'm not sure if the fasting has a big difference, but the routine has helped me to be more aware of what I eat and when.
Actually, I usually only stick to it Mon-Thurs but just doing this has helped me maintain since dropping quite a bit of weight at the start of the year.

+1 to all of this

I've kicked drinking to the curb this month, mainly to get myself back into check and see how much effect it had on my weight, also works fucking manic at the moment so I don't want to be hungover at all.
Fingers crossed it doesn't all come back in Dec.

Increases in 5/8/45 min power as well.
Unsure whether to reduce calories this month or keep as maintenance level. Will do Rapha festive 500 again so should be on for 30/ 40+ hours cycling for December.

Down by 10 lbs in 15 days. 5 2 plan. Mrs EB similarly shrinking! Pretty easy actually. Fast days are OK, if a little long!

Started tracking progress in Feb but 11 months of being a bit more sensible, most pleased about maintaining most of my muscle mass. I’ve lost a bit of strength but improved general fitness. Hopefully in a years time I won’t have put it all back on!

100% this - 6 yrs and 2 kids ago I was just shy of 70kg (5'11"). Weighed myself in July this year - 80.1kg.
The complusion to have a relaxing tinny after work and then two on sat/sun is an easy trap. And that's without civilised muddle class wine drinking. I counted an average day's calories and I was way up there around the 3000 mark. Generally due to toast and jam, biscuits + cake, Greggs Baguettes, beer and wine, pasta and pizza . I cut all carbs - lasted a week and it was fucking miserable. Now - Smoothies for breakfast - handful oats + banana + milk + berries + vog. No snacks. Lots of water during the day. Try and keep a handle on lunch carbs - salmon with a bit of rice + lots veg or Low fat sarnies (under 300 cals) no sweet drinks (inc. juice). With dinner it's harder when you're in a family situ - I just try and make sure there are lots of green veggies in the fridge and have a smaller portion of carbs and bulk up with the brocolli / kale. Booze wise I try to keep off midweek - often fail . Developed an appreciation of vodka tonic. Tried lo cal / no alcohol beers - all shit.
I've lost 5kg in 5 months - not quick - but a the general mindset change and increase in healthy stuff going in (water and veg) feels good. -

2nd Dec: 67kg
12th Dec: 65.6kgAlmost at 65kg!
Sized down from Rapha Large to small this year, and just about managed to squeeze into an Xs velotec skinsuit, without looking like a badly made sausage.Planning to get down to 65kg by 22nd Dec, and then ‘bulk’ over the festive period.
100 chin-ups, 100 pushups, 100 squats and 100 sit-ups a day will hopefully convert some of the mince pies to muscle... -

Christmas weight gain: One pound of human bacon. That's roughly 3500 kcals planning to shave it in 10 days.
Started cutting calories now my scale weight goes up. Good old dieting!
Another reason to not just trust the scale.

One pound is great. I’m up around 4 to 6 pounds. Work, beer, mince pies and man flu have combined to shaft me all at once.

About the same for me, while also clocking about 400km of riding.
Possibly the boxes of mince pies I took over to family in France, where the only one who ate them was me.
From a cultural background of having a cooked breakfast, anything less than 3 feels disappointing to me.
Hard to hit 100g protein a day without meat/fish.
Loosely trying to be 100g protein, 160g carbs, 50g fat as a base at the moment with more carbs on more cardio heavy days.
