Sounds like an expensive faff , but I do know what you mean.
Sometimes I see something and think oooh that would be perfect if it was........... -

Most of the time I really like the watch, but every now and again I really wish it was white rather than beige-and the only way to scratch that itch is to do it, I think. The denim face version has white lume, but I want to keep the black face. As such, I could use the denim hands, and modify the black face- or rather get someone who does this professionally to do so.

Just make the problem go away by giving me the Railmaster
-
• #32255
That's a solution, I'm not sure it's the solution.
This is the denim face:
And I'd like that colour lume, so I presume I can use service hands from that watch, married to a service dial for this watch that has been re-lumed:
Although I don't think I'd want the red second hand from the denim.

Could one of the photoshop wizards alter that second image so we can see what it would be like please?
-
• #32257
Wouldn't you be left with a tiny bit of the beige lume if you didn't use the denim second hand? that would really bug me...
-
• #32258
oh actually the text of railmaster would still be beige too...
-
• #32259
I'd use the silver second hand but with white lume. I don't mind the Railmaster text.

• #32260
Woa, that denim strap is f-ugly
-
• #32261
Yeah, it's a horror-show of a watch, I'd want nothing from it bar the white super-luminova.
-
• #32262
Yeah, it's a horror-show of a watch
I actually really like it, which probably means I should leave this thread and never, ever return.
-
• #32263
I think you should definitely take a long hard look at yourself. Unless of course, you're Bruce Springsteen traveling forward in time from the early nineties, in which case, I can understand why you'd like it...

Re the Daytona, if the 6 followed the same rule as the other's wouldn't it be 9?
Yes - which is why the Speedmaster dial & face is better as it maintains a horizontal numbering across the bezel and face, avoiding the issue altogether.

Probably looks quite appropriate on a wrist behind the wheel of a Porsche...

What % of chronograph owners have ever timed anything?
Next question.
What % of chronograph owners know how to time something?
-
• #32267
For me, this is such a useless complication.

• #32268
Been down to 200m many times?
-
• #32269
I find it much easier to hit a chrono button on one of my watches when timing something for cooking than tapping around on my phone..
But sure, fair point. My oven has a timer too.
-
• #32270
Nah too dark and wet.
-
• #32271
By timing something how specific are you asking?
I’ve used mine to time how long
we were swimming in the sea,
my lengths took in a pool,
the pasta’s been cooking.I have used the chrono for loads of other stuff too but real timing like a tool watch in a workshop or something, nope.
I find the rotating bezel way more useful for broad timekeeping, for example how long the washing has been on for, or how long the oven’s been cooking something, where split-second accuracy makes no difference.
-
• #32272
I use mine all the time .
-
• #32273
Nobody knows how to use an oven timer. If you say you do, you’re a liar and a cheat and I don’t believe you.

Had a chat with a watchmaker who will re-do the luminova for me and reassemble the watch for a very reasonable fee. I need to source dials and hands, as apparently Omega are a bugger to source parts from for the current watches.
-
• #32275
Sounds like you would be better off selling it
= I want a Railmaster with white lume rather than the faux aged stuff, but to be able to put the watch back to original if I want to.
