Really, we should look at the ebb and flow of MMTs (mainstream mincer trends) as part of our year-long 360-degree approach to mincing. Yes, we love the noise and rush of December, but let's also celebrate cold, hard February parcels of raisins wrapped in pages ripped from an A5 notebook, the illicit April mincing feakouts deep in the English outback, and the long, mellow, mincemeat-smeared days on the beach in July.
We know what's up.

bakewell mincer slice doesn't sound like a pie to me, so I'm all ears (and mouth). Should be nicely warmed by the latent heat of a jersey pocket.
The thing is, as was discussed in November, you need a break from the mincer to truly appreciate it once the season comes around. I like the 12th night rule. Pie season for me will end midnight on the 5th (slices still allowed).

Waitrose deli counter had their own in store part baked with a star on top going for 15p each, bought all of them, the kid on the counter was like how many, I was like 'ALL'.
Good pastry, good filling, star top is the only negative. Just ate 3 of them with a cup of tea, eying up another 3 for finishing off the same cup of tea, is that too many?

Wandered up the glory that is Ruislip High Street.
Needed to go into Iceland,
12/£1.89 mincers at half price!
I will make a good dent in the 24, (pies, not boxes of 12), I brought home,
but,
cannot guarantee they will all be eaten by 12th Night. -

I have been actively avoiding buying mincers as I thought the season finished in December. All this talk about the season actually closing on the 6th has got me excited - it's like xmas all over again!
In bargain news, my GF brought home a box of Asda Extra-Special mincers for 16p. 16p!

FFS all my local sources seem to have got their mincer logistics spot on this season; reduced Xmas cakes all over the place, but no pies to be seen. And some other bugger got all the posh mincemeat that was reduced in Morrisons. Will have to have a scout around - homemade Bakewell mincer slice sounds just the ticket for late January rides...

ASDA Leyton had boxes upon boxes of their 6x Extra Special variety for 35p when I swung by this morning.
Just had one and it's fairly priced. I'd be LIVID if I'd paid full price.

The glory that is Ruislip High Street was recently betrayed & besmirched.
Betrayed.
The M&S Food store announced it was shutting,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marks_%26_Spencer#Mid_2018_store_cull
(despite the landlord offering to change the lease to 12 months & with no compulsory upwards revisions).
The unit was empty for about 3 weeks.
Besmirched.
A notice on the shopwindows carried the legal notice that an alcohol license application had been submitted for ....... the Coop!Ruislip is pretty brexitty. The loss of M&S was bad enough, but for it to be replaced by the Socialists behind the Coop. The local inhabitants had assumed that Momentum-led entryism was confined to Brighton & Hackney.
The Coop duly opened before Xmas, and the locals have found that the produce on offer is not confined to quinoa, kombucha & 'knit your own tofu' gift sets.
I must confess that I had not visited this Coop as often as I might, as it is on the opposite side of the road to everybody's favourites palm oil denying supermarket, Iceland, who had lured me in with their 12/£1.89 offer.
However, Iceland's shelf of left over Xmas tat included only their gluten-free 4/£2 reduced down to £1.
This evening, I ventured inside the Coop.
In one of the 'Offer' displays were 'Short Crust Mince Pies' in packs of 4.
They looked disappointingly thin. Deep-fill they were not!I contemplated, and, in a moment of clarity, I recalled the words of Mick Jagger;
'You can't always get what you want,
but you just might find,
you just might find,
you get what you need'.The price label was holding the two sides of the clear plastic one-piece tray together, obscuring the price. I lifted a pack, carefully, above my eyeline, to reveal the price.
12p.
Yep, 12p for 4 mincers. 12th Night be damned,
the choral backing vocals swirled round in my head,
it was a Mincer Revelation.I picked up 8 trays, leaving 3 times as many for others to share my good luck.
Ate two on the way home. Two Mincers, even I couldn't manage two trays of four!
Revelatory headiness replaced by sugar rush. -

Found a box of six Fortnum & Mason mincers in a cupboard at work, where I had ferreted them away before going on my holibobs.
They won't last very long.....
What's this "finish my season" talk? I've got a decent stockpile of filling and was just thinking that a bakewell mincer slice might be just the ticket to get me through a hard day in Jan ride...
