  • I committed a grave sin on Saturday. I had planned to make some mincers but ran out of time. Ended up taking inspiration from earlier in this very thread and making a mince filled flapjack to power me through my run instead. Fucking delish, I don't even care.

  • Wuntu offer : Patisserie Valerie mince pie & take-away hot drink for £1.
    Cashed in yesterday. Mince pie inevitably cold. Star-shaped lid, and impressively deep, so surprised that the filling did reach to the lid.
    Not worth the £1.55/1.95 price tag, but best I've tried outside of Iceland's.

  • Looks like someone in Sainsbury’s bakery said fuck it and overfilled all the pies and gave them a bit longer in the oven. Result is rather damn good.

  • Batch in the oven right now, not vegan this time as there's butter to use up. Also a couple of traditional mincemeat pasties too finish off the pastry.

  • More home produced mincers. Like the good King Wencelas' snow, these were deep, crisp and even. My top mincer this season and just at the right time.

  • How is everyone handling the comedown?
    I'm currently tackling the Christmas pud hanging around, but it's not on the same level...

  • Also, Uncle Garry hasn't been seen since we finished off the last box of Co-op deep fill on the 27th.

    Come home Garry, there's more to life than mince pies.

  • Cracked through the last of the pud last night - nuked + vanilla ice cream. Noice.

    Still a few mincers left after a re-supply drop from my mum. Valid eating till 12th night for me.

  • I need to find something good to finish my season off. Last one I had was a puff pastry monstrosity. I'll have a 10 month bad taste in my mouth unless I can source some decent buttery pastry with a deep fill. Greggs still knocking them out?

    Will check out my local today while on the hunt for their new overhyped vegan sausage roll. I might buy 2 and resell one on eBay.

  • Came into work today to discover my team had got me a belated xmas gift of many mince pies. 18 mince pies in total.

    6 are iced top. 12 are chocolate orange. All 18 are abominations.

    I'm trying to look grateful.

  • Not ashamed to say that I'd eat an iced mince pie right now.

  • Late season stock clearup defines this week, IMO. Shame on those outlets who are still churning the mincers out in the name of profit. That's not what it's about.

  • Post xmas hols in the canteen (two days on the trot). Does not bode well for loosing the December excess...
