I've had a praxis works BB in the shed for a few months, now one of the bearings is completely seized.
Any hope of freeing it up? otherwise, can I have a new bearing fitted or it's new BB time?

Do broadband providers ever pay cancellation fees if you want to switch before a contract is over?
-
• #95079
Not helpful sorry, but it entirely depends on your contract, read it and find out. If there are you could also ask if the new provider is willing to give you a partial reimbursement of any fees as you're brining your business to them, probably wont happen but cant hurt to ask.

It's not particularly fancy, but you're welcome to borrow it. Where are you based?

Cheers man! SE1, and you? Can cycle to collect.

Please could anyone confirm that a Shimano 10sp cassette will fit on a Shimano 9sp freehub body? I think it will work with a 10sp spacer on the cassette but haven't tried this yet.
-
• #95083
Shimano freehubs are the same for 8. 9 and 10 speed cassettes.

Thanks!

Yes it will with a 1mm spacer.

Wonder what is custom about it other than just pressing a sleeve in to it.
-
• #95091
I wonder if you can press it out and into a new one?
-
• #95092
Thanks for the reply, I couldn't find a clear answer.
New BB ordered, 2019 has been expensive so far!
-
• #95093
Could get the old one out by destroying the old dead bearing, then freeze the sleeve, heat the new bearing and it might press in Ok with an appropriate drift.

Meh, ran out of time to fuck about with it in the end, the fuckers hooked me for a fresh 18mo contract, and got me to upgrade!

Could see the lip on one side in the photo above and and it seems flushed with the surface on the other hence should be removable.
Pretty much how you'll sleeve a Shimano BB if you wanna use it with a GXP crankset...
-
• #95096
I can't think of a GXP crank where there isn't a Shimano crank as good or better for the same (used) price.

Omnium? ;)

• #95098
Meh, overpriced hipster crank.

Does @mdcc_tester agree?

freeze the sleeve, heat the new bearing and it might press in
If it takes that to get it in, the bushing is much too big. Correct interference fit would allow a light press with no temperature difference. The axle is a sliding fit in the bushing, so you're not going to gain anything by making the bushing tight in the bearing.
Anyone has a hand plane? Need to remove 2mm off the sides of a rack to fit into a window frame.
